This is the funniest book I have ever read. I'm off work today, but I would have called in sick with laughter to finish this. OMG my side hurts.

Absolutely exhilarating and heartbreaking. I love Jamaica and would love to return every year. Father daughter relationships are hard if you have one that is absent, partially there or don't know them at all. So this heartbreaking relationship broke my soul.

Loving this book. Two young sisters go to their home land to visit their father in Jamaica for the summer. The oldest sister really misses her father after he left his family in Canada to return to his homeland. She's learning so much more about her father and the animosity she has felt for him leaving is tied up in mixed emotions. There's a lot going on on the island, from abuse to young budding love, to a hurricane

Someone not hip to a hustlers culture tried to write a book about the streets and ended up writing a Bromance novel. These guys were hilarious. But the narrators voice had me at hello.

A lot of mention about powers, yet not a lot of use of those powers, or what those powers are, there's more running from or researching history of the world or islands, and back stories. The best part of it all is the writer has a great way to pace the story and something is always happening big or small you are intrigued.

Enjoyable pace, the characters are easy to like and understand. The time travel element is seamless not so far fetched that it feels out of place or odd and unnecessary. It's a crucial part of the story, so the writer isn't just throwing in sci-fi elements to make the story interesting it feels authentic to the world or worlds they are in.

If it weren't for Ari Fliakos narration I would have struggled through this book. So perfectly pretentious with deep descriptive dives that will excite you or have you begging to just get on with it. Jack and Elizabeth are well a mess of internal mental goulash. I love it.

There was so much going on with the characters abilities or powers that it seemed to over shadow the fact they were enslaved and freed and in their own town. Only to get sick die, not trust Saint, having issues with one another that seemed unreal to freed slaves. I kept thinking if they had all of these abilities how could they have been captured and enslaved? This could have been a 300 page book.

This was sad and great at the same time. I would read more by this writer. This was a absolutely complete novel, nothing left to question. All basis covered. Read Lolita, then this book. Great great great.

This is better than I thought. Glad to have read Lolita years ago. Sad that this is a familiar story for young people.

A lot of repetitive and over explaining characters that have already been covered. Get on with the story. Not seeing the point of this. Free slaves to just have them go through haunts and voodoo magical spiritual hoo ha. So I guess this is true to life. Black people will never be happy and free. Please get on with it.

I listened to the audiobook and Bahni Turpin deserves more than one award for this. I was so mad at the mother Delores in this book and Margo and Tandy. I know they dealt with trauma and a lot of it is definitely responsible for the choices they made in their lives but dang it Stop Drop and Roll 🤣🤣🤣think before you act out.

This took about a week to read because I kept rewinding and listening again to some of the parts I felt I wanted to be there to witness Jesus not fully grasp who he was. The perspective was something I found I longed for but didn't know how I could witness it without me just dreaming it up. This was special.

I enjoyed the narrator and the story was cute. I liked the mystery surrounding the owner but the far outness of the reason for the mystery was for a more adolescent imagination. Good read.
