Nicholas Nelson is 12% done with Iron Gold (Red Rising Saga, #4)
Broke lent early (was just reading the Bible for it). Great exercise! Appreciative of the intentional time I had during it.
Now the bibliophilia continues…

“The absurd is sin without God.”
Hmmm…
What do you humans look like without God?
I want to say blank. Is absurdism says that white is both a color and empty slave? Neither? Unimportant nonetheless?

Man fulfilled Hebrew Law by scaring a mother pigeon off her egg and holding it… to be a Jew BC must have been a wild ride.

“The title page says, "This Bible is presented to..." and then, in handwritten bubble letters, the name of my ex-girlfriend. Huh. Somehow I had inadvertently pilfered my ex-girlfriend’s childhood Bible. I hope inadvertently. It's been a decade since we broke up, and I can't remember. Regardless, that's not a good sign. At the very
least, I need to return it when I'm done.””
This book already has me giggling.

Nicholas Nelson is 19% done with The Space Trilogy: Three books in One : Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra and That Hideous Strength
So I just finished The Silent Planet, the first book, and here’s what I have to say.
1. SO INTERESTING! I was really (and I mean really) into space when I was K-3rd grade. So my search history is now space related.
2. Have to remember it’s not Narnia. I think that’s why I had a slow start. There’s no lions or beavers here… only aliens.
3. Hope you’ve studied principles of language before reading this.

“[God] sees as well as you do that courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point, which means the point of highest reality… Pilate was merciful till it became risky.”
Chesterton said orthodoxy is not about compromise or amalgamation, but all things burning at the top of their energy. Jesus was not simply God and man, he was VERY God and VERY man.

“I think earth, if chosen instead of Heaven, will turn out to have been, all along, only a region in Hell: and earth, it put second to Heaven, to have been from there beginning a part of Heaven itself.”

“Mythology is defeated when the mind rests solemnly with its favorite or traditional images, defending them as though they themselves were the message they communicate.”
More people should rejoice in the never ending mystery of God, as opposed to resigning themselves to the belief they know everything about Him. In that, they might find eternity, not the past, beginning to permeate their moments.

“I had always vaguely felt facts to be miracles in the sense that they are wonderful: now I began to think them miracles in the stricter sense that they were wilful. I mean that they were, or might be, repeated exercises of some will. In short, I had always believed that the world involved magic: now I thought that perhaps it involved a magician.”

“The human intellect is free to destroy itself. Just as one generation could prevent the very existence of the next generation, by all entering a monastery of jumping into the sea, so one set of thinkers can on some degree prevent further thinking by teaching the next generation that there is no validity in human thought.” 🤯🤯🤯
