The audiobook is so good! I love Brittany Presley 💓

I know I'm probably in the minority here but I'm actually kind of bored.

This is what I'd call Cozy Fantasy Percy Jackson. Fun adventures with lower stakes than the original. I find I'm not as engaged with these stories but they're fun.

Still really liking this but waiting to get the audiobook back

I already love the writing style. Have had this on my shelf since 2021, when I won it in a Goodreads Giveaway. Feeling in the perfect mood for it right now and picked it as my next physical read (although I imagine the audiobook is lovely).

I'm still really liking this book. Just not as into Non-fiction right now. Need some happy brain food.

This book has a lot going on and also feels disjointed with the teams separated on their own missions in different lands. I'm glad they are finally coming together for the resolution.

Also, idk about touring a kid. That doesn't give me warm fuzzies.

The multiple POVs are making it really hard to follow the plot and each sub plot and sub characters motivation. I wish it was streamlined better.

Every time they say "the sight" it reminds me of that scene from the Shadowhunter's pilot when Jace says "You have....the sight?" 🤣

I am really wanting a romcom but not a super sexy romcom. Just something fluffy. This one has been on my TBR since before it was released, so I'm giving it a shot.

Looking for something fun to offset the kind of heavier war stuff of Waking Gods. Cautious about how long this is, so we'll see if I get through it. But im always down for a good heist.

Too sexy for me

Pretty instalovey but we'll see where it goes. Another Backlist Books Goal for 2024.

TW:lots of mass deaths, non-consensual removal of reproductive tissue used in non-consensual IVF implantation, scenes of violent torture, mentions of rape and murder of a town that is overthrown.

I feel like so much of this has been filler and MacGuffins. I care about the relationship between Dylan and Amari more than the rest of the relationships, although I'm glad they got Laura back. I just feel like the more that gets added the farther away we get from the main story. I know there's more books coming now and I think that has to do with why this feels so padded. Because this def isn't ending in this one.

I'm not loving the stereotypes of the different kids, especially Oliver, who is clearly meant to represent the stereotypical hyperactive boy with ADHD, and Albert, the very Sheldon Cooper boy genius. Especially Oliver. I know some will say it's easier to have these versions of the characters have very clear traits to help young readers pickup on their differences but I think they could be more dynamic.

I don't think I made a direct correlation between reading less physical books and noticing my eyesight was getting worse. I think I noticed it the last couple of semesters but was able to make the words on my computer larger. But my glasses have made such a difference (who would have thunk I know). It makes me really happy to be getting back to physical reading, even though reading later in the day is still hard.

I didn't go into this book expecting it to be so much about grief. Definitely a tonal shift from the first book. But it is absolutely going to end up on my recommendation list for how truly it is representing both the experience of grieving and also the experience of walking next to someone in life who is grieving. I think it is not only handled fantastically for a middle grade but also just in general. Hits my heart
