Turl sure is a sneaky one.

Uh oh...new set of characters again. Let's see what happens.

I've settled on the fact that the overarching story isn't strong, but the characters are fun and quirky!

I haven't given up on this book!

Wow...I can't believe The Mother just did that. That was a bit unsettling...

This is still one of the craziest books I've ever attempted to read...

I'm progressing slowly, but I am progressing. The story is still good. Not good enough to read more than a couple of chapters a night, but still good!

Ho boy, I sense this is going to be a GREAT book! Hopefully I'm not getting ahead of myself, but what a fascinating opening!

Terl is certainly the more interesting character of the two at this point.

First Thomas Pynchon novel I've started since taking a break on Gravity's Rainbow. So far this is much easier to digest!

It certainly helps that Jonnie and Terl can speak to each other (contrived as the reason may be).

So glad that the next book in the series is a true sequel to the previous book. I don't mind when there are new characters, but having a few old ones carry on helps smooth out the transition.

So far I'm loving this story of an artist taken from her home and brought to a world and culture she doesn't know. Despite our different backgrounds I feel like we would have been friends if we met when we were younger.

Been avoiding this one for years, but decided to take the plunge. The scary thing about it so far is that Hitler begins writing about a very relatable childhood. I wish he had perused a career in the arts rather than politics. This is going to be rough.

I REALLY hate to admit I'm actually still enjoying this! The fact that there's still a thousand pages makes me wonder, but so far it's perfectly enjoyable sci-fi fare!

I'm not sure if I'm enjoying the detective agency bit very much, but I still like the idea that the mobster still wants to kill our hero just because it would be fun (despite being paid off).

The attack has begun and the sword is on the verge of being found. The book is confidently marching towards an epic conclusion!

A detective agency...yep, the book is certainly living up to its title!

I actually find the way Hubbard switches between Turl and Jonnie to be a clever way to show the difference between the views of the alien and the views of the human. Still enjoying this I hate to admit...

Into book two. Chuny is certainly the most threatening antagonist in the series so far!

SOOOOO much better than the last book in this series I read!

Not surprised that Penn can write! He seems to know Vegas life really well! ;)

This is already a VAST improvement from the previous book! I love the characters and having the backstories for the history of Redwall is going a long way here.

Slowly getting through. I have to admit it's not terrible.

I'm reading this more on a bet than anything. But so far...I don't hate it. I don't love it at the moment, but so far, I've read less interesting books.

I know I've been reading this book pretty slowly, but this may be the first Redwall book I've read that's more confusing than it is enjoyable.
