Mariel is back! Older and wiser to boot! Though if the title of the book is any indication, looks like Joseph will play a very important role in this novel!

Why do I have a feeling Joseph the Bellmaker is going to be an important character in a future book...?

Book one finished. Looks like Jedi spirit Martin the Warrior is going to play a bigger role in this adventure.

Getting back into recording my reading progress. Anyway...I like Mariel so far. Also, interesting that Martin the Warrior makes a cameo on a spirit of some sort.

After "the slap heard round the world," like everyone else I had opinions on Will Smith's actions. Some of those opinions I don't expect to change. Yet the moment at the Oscars wasn't just a shocking: It was a moment where I realized I didn't really know a man I had admired and respected for years. I think it's time I learned a little bit about Will the man...from Will himself.

Despite my history with comics, "Maus" somehow slipped by me. Now that there are people trying to ban it, I think it is time I give it a read!

I can already sense I'm going to enjoy this book more than "The Outcast of Redwall." A strong connection to past books involving Martin the Warrior as well as a new protagonist that seems interesting. So far what's not to love?!

I'm not sure I like where this is heading. I'm hoping for either redemption for Veil or for him to survive into the next book. I fear this whole journey will be for naught otherwise.

Book 3 begins! And now we understand the meaning behind the title. Truthfully, I don't know if the book can completely be saved; it's been an aimless journey until recently. I REALLY do like Veil though, and I hope he survives to be the main protagonist or antagonist of the next novel. Having a central character next time would be a good idea.

Getting better...

Book 1 finished. It IS getting better...though, it's still the least interesting book of the series thus far!

Alright, not going to lie...not enjoying this one. I don't NEED Martin the Warrior in this to enjoy a Redwall book, but when you basically start with a new cast, it can take awhile before we get into this! A more obvious connection to the previous book would certainly help.

And so a new Redwall journey begins. It appears we are back with the badgers (and there is almost no chance of an appearance of Martin the Warrior), but it's always fun to see stories of descendants of previous characters! I'm waiting to see if ferrets will play a bigger role (like on the cover)?

These recent chapters make me SOOOOO glad I read "Lord Brocktree" previously!

Christmas is over so it's time to hit the books again! While the new new isn't upon us yet, let's almost start it by finishing book one in 'Mossflower,' where a squirrel meets a well deserved end!

Holy cow: Lord Brocktree has been referenced! I honestly thought that was going to be a stand-alone story, but nope; it's important to the lore of Redwall! I have certainly missed reading this series. Makes me wish "life" hadn't prevented me from reading for a couple of weeks.

Nice to see Martin is still good at escaping!

Oh my gosh...this keeps better and better. This may be premature, but I may be reading one of the best children's books I've read in almost a decade! What a great way to teach kids about mixed families and conflicts that come with them in a way that is easy to understand.

Man this book is charming and imaginative! It's reminding me of how I felt when I first entered the world of Harry Potter. Rowling is a gift to children's literature for sure! Whoever decides to make this into an animated movie will likely have an instant Christmas classic on rotation! I may actually read this thing in one day!

Alright, I'm putting a pause on Roger Rabbit (again) because it's Christmas and it's time to read a Christmas book or two! Normally I read "A Christmas Carol," however Father Christmas has gifted me with a new novel from J.K. Rowling that happens to be about Christmas, so this is what I'm starting with! Chapters are short so I'll be finished in no time. Earlier impressions are VERY positive! I suspect I'll love it!

And with this book we are continuing with Martin. This time though he's a more silent character. A more broken character. It's nice that this series is starting to feel like a series.

We're getting near the final act! After dinner with the in-laws I plan to set time aside and finish what has easily been the best book in the series thus far!

Book keeps getting better! Looking forward to the conclusion!

I shouldn't be starting another book. I really shouldn't. But I've seen the documentary enough times that I feel I should finally start this one. Strange pick for the holiday season, but there you go.

Book three begins.

I really like Rose a lot! I do miss Dotti though. I suppose one of the bad things about a series that spans multiple generations is that characters you fall in love with sometimes don't return. Except for Martin...technically I've had two journeys with him.

Book one finished...now for book two.

Everyone's escaped...now it's time for the regroup and final battle. The books are a bit formulaic at times. They are fun though.

And so the escape begins...

Still plowing along. Still funny. Not exactly a masterpiece in prose, but there are still many clever ideas (one about a speech therapist teaching famous toons like Daffy Duck and Sylvester the Cat their famous lisps got a special laugh from me).
