Its getting better.

Ulf Danielsson is a Swedish physicist with an original take on what reality is. We do not stand outside an objective world observing it but we are part of that world. He is very close to Kant here and also takes quite a bit from logical positivism.

Surprisingly good. Agassis portrayal of his childhood is as authentic as it is heartbreaking.

So far much exceedingly bad. I was curious about their process whereas it is obvious that the authors goal is to paint a picture of his idols.

Kissinger never lets you down. He manages to succintly summarize key differences between the West and China using the appropriate analogy of chess and wei qi (or Go). "If chess is all about decisive battle, wei qi is about protracted campaign. The chess player aims for total victory. The wei qi player seeks relative advantage. (p. 23)

Surprisingly good. This books manages to deliver a history of 20th century science while at the same time discussing the core issue of what reality is. What is the connection between the quantum world and our real world? Who was right about reality - Einstein or Bohr? The book is all the more relevant as the book ends with the work of this years nobel prize winners.

Amazing! Gorky is really an underrated writer. He manages to capture the Russian underclass from a child's perspective.
