This book is quite cynical... and yet also hopeful.

The argument goes that the only way to overcome humanity’s general diffidence is by using their gullibility to inspire belief in ideas and leaders. But ironically that’s the key to ‘saving humanity’... belief and hope — aka faith.

You want robot overlords??? Because THIS is how we get robot overlords!!! 😂

It occurs to me that our protagonist is best described as ‘chaotic good’ 😂

Feeling torn about continuing ... original and absorbing but...
- plot turns on a single very bad choice
- protagonist suddenly behaving WAY outside character
- self fulfilling tragedy?
- tragedy could have been avoided by COMMUNICATION AND HONESTY

I’d like to think that boredom is more likely to lead to creativity and invention that cruelty, particularly for an imaginative person like an architect.

Hmm... not really what I was hoping for at the moment. I was hoping for something like Girl with Ghost Eyes and I was drawn in by the description of a Godfather-esque tale of magic and Kung fu. I guess the hard bitten tone of the audiobook narrator just is t what I hoped for. Maybe I’ll try it again sometime as an ebook?

I’m reminded of the movie Constantine and the discussion of faith vs knowledge.
