this one is a biiiit heavy on the exposition so far but i l o v e the relationships between all the characters and what's revealed with the exposition is cool enough for me not to mind

Okay, you know what, this is very fun, I’m on board
(But why does it feel like book 1 and book 2 were written by two completely different people??? I feel like in book 1, SJM tried too hard to stick to the Beauty and the Beast structure, so it didn’t make sense. But book 2 is actually genuinely quite good)

well, tamlin's character was completely changed between books 1 & 2 buuut if we take this new tamlin as a premise then this book is actually pretty good so far, i like that feyre actually has to deal with trauma & ptsd and what not

wow the character assassination is real (yes - I gave the first book 2 stars because it was stupid but I believe in second chances and I also just cannot not finish a series once I've started it) (and I also may or may not have the entire series on my bookshelf because the covers are p r e t t y)

I’m glad I took a break between reading the first book and continuing the second. It’s making me really appreciate N.K. Jemisin’s writing style, I can definitely see her becoming a new favourite author :)

if this whole book is the same quality as the 50 first pages then this is a ten star read

Okay now the plot is reaching City of Bones levels of stupid 😭 I really had better expectations 😭

Has anyone else been experiencing a bug with the Goodreads website these past few days where the progress bar for the 'currently reading' books has disappeared and where it's impossible to update the reading progress?

Huh. I went into reading this with legitimately good intentions of liking it, but the characters and the story are starting to be actively stupid and it’s enraging. The MC makes consistently dumb decisions and there are too many stupid but convenient plot points.

I figured out what’s “wrong”. Sarah J Maas is a GREAT writer when it comes to creating scenes that make you feel exactly how she intends (giving you butterflies, making you anxious, sad, etc). But it’s like there’s no logic between those scenes, the characters don’t behave how they should considering the trauma they have, their backstories, etc.

Thoughts so far : it is completely decent. It’s not changing my life, and I’ve read far better things in the fantasy genre (I will comment on some aspects that I think were poorly executed in my review) but it’s definitely readable and there’s nothing to be angry about :)

Let’s see what all the fuss is about, shall we :)
