I feel like this is going to be a new favourite :)

I want to like this, but there are a few problems.

It's really repetitive. Every page is basically the same creative writing exercise of "how can I say that the character is angry but using a different sentence each time". And the writing is soooo overly verbose.

There is a lot of "showing, not telling".

Even in terms of plot, it's the same thing over and over again.

This could have been cut in half.

Thoughts so far :
- it's a bit repetitive
- the writing is SO flowery (don't remember noticing it this much with the previous books)

I feel like it's not flowing as much as it could so far :')

I highly recommend reading this if you know anything about the Napoleonic wars
I've rarely read anything -fictional or otherwise- that captures the scope and complexity of war like this book

I have started to actively tab/annotate the book, I am having so much fun reading it
