This book is making me realise I need a socialist history of the region. I had no idea that Che Guevara visited Cairo or that there was a scramble to the left of Nasser!

I am absolutely loving the Arab communist perspective of this book..... It makes me think of what could have been.....

So the author can write sensational battle scenes like the ones in this chapter but we have only seen two so far!!?! Why?!

Ciri is stuck in multiple spaces, times and universes, completely lost and without direction.

Just like the plot.

It was already a five star read, but then the author quoted Dostoevsky 🙌🏽

The story thus far is a mess. We've had an irrelevant multiverse escapade, Geralt on a wine tasting tour while the people closest to him are at risk of death and now one of the blandest characters get a POV chapter......

A solid two stars so far.

Andrzej, my brother in Christ, why do you insist on adding the idea of a multiverse and give us drips and drops of the story through a narrator who has to piece it together based on her dreams?

You have a lot of loose ends to tie up 😂

The theory presented, that the comparatively short lived and very sexually inclined humans outsexed the long lived, and thus bored of sex elves, partially by appealing to sexually frustrated female elves who needed male humans to end the monotony....

Is plausible, hilarious and so on brand for this clearly perpetually horny author 😂

The story gets progressively darker and grittier.

and the characters and their interactions shine brighter and brighter.

The characters in this book are more diverse and far more compelling than in any of its predecessors!

Nope... It's an elf adjacent human POV character.

I'm convinced that perhaps it doesn't occur to white authors to include even fictional Minoritised characters in their stories 😂

Are we finally getting a compelling elven POV character 👀👀👀

The political intrigue, dialogue and worldbuilding remain the absolute strength of this series so far.

The element of mystery in this book is among the best in any fantasy books I've read.

The presentation and treatment of women is among the worst.
