I was on a reading slump and started this book today, and had I not been so busy I'd finish it in one day 😭

Absolutely amazing so far. Intimate, captivating and avoidant of cliche and expectation.

A lot of conjecture, theory and broad strokes. No. Positionality or data thus far. Hard to read as a Copt. So indifferent to our suffering it may as well be written in our blood.

I am so glad I stopped paying attention to Goodreads scores for Arabic books - this is another one far better than the highly rated ones 😂.

Beautiful so far, but would perhaps resonate more with those more familiar with the Quran and the lives of the Sahabbah. Or those of Muslim faith.
