this is really interesting so far. i hadn’t thought about suicide in this universe yet. both citra and rowan seem to have the same attitude towards scythes so far.

Why wouldn’t mark tell Alec that he has the flare? I feel like that would be a good option. I think Deedee is Theresa, because I remember that Theresa was a name given to her by WICKED.

This book is really rekindling my covid fears. The characters really suck at quarantine. They gave up after like two days. It’s not that hard to just keep your distance from other people. The characters are so one dimensional. Mark is so possessive towards Trina and has extreme mood swings very often. Alec is so inconsistently written, and so is Trina. Maybe Deedee is going to grow up to become Theresa.

I feel like somebody or everybody knows what really happened to Cadence and that she didn’t go down to the beach on her own for no reason. Maybe that’ll be the big twist I heard so much about.

These kids are so young and spoiled and naive. I sort of know how Gat feels, to be in a new place with new people and a new culture, but I haven’t experienced the racism that he’s definitely feeling from the grandparents and probably some of the adults as well.

This book has such an unique vibe. The whole thing about having perspectives from minor characters (compared to Mateo and Rufus) is a really interesting way of portraying the world. There’s so many lives going on and some of them are going to end.

I teared up three times reading this part. It’s kinda cool how we get little snapshots of minor/side characters lives. It makes the world seem bigger than just the two main characters.

Man this book is making me existential. I guess that’s sort of the point though. I can’t really think about what I would do in this world because it just makes me upset and I won’t be able to sleep tonight. To be honest I’m mainly reading it so I can cry. I’ve been needing a good cry recently to let out all the pent up emotions.

That was such a good book. I do wish the ending was a bit more defined and we knew more of what happened, and there are still some questions left unanswered, but that's just a personal preference. The Tox being a parasite that grows in your body that tries to make it better but the human body can't take it is a really interesting concept. It worked with the crabs but the human body wasn't made for such rapid change.

I'm so excited to find out what's going on with Taylor. What she knows, why she's hiding it, and how she found out. Why is she so trusted by the adults? Is she immune? I think that maybe the CDC and the navy infected the island with the Tox as a way of testing some biological warfare thing and the food that they have to throw out is contaminated with something that would make the Tox worse or maybe a new disease.

I didn’t see Hetty and Reese coming. Maybe there’ll be polyamory because Hetty definitely has romantic feelings towards Byatt. I knew I couldn’t trust Walsh. It’s possible that Rona had the pill that Byatt took and that’s why she survived her flare up. I’m really liking this book.

I love this so far. It’s so well written and the Tox is fascinating. I’m interested to see how Hetty, Byatt, and Reese’s friendship evolves, and maybe a possible romance between Hetty and Byatt. I think Byatt knows something about maybe the Tox or a cure or the army base that she hasn’t told anyone about.

It’s odd that Bellamy is the best hunter on the ground even though the Earthborns have been there their entire lives and Bellamy hasn’t even been there six months. I feel like the Protectors rape the women. The author pretty much said it without saying it.

It’s kinda weird for Octavia to be in charge of all the kids at 14. Based on how fast everyone got over their grief shouldn’t Wells be fine by now? He was fine with his fathers death after like a day.

So sasha’s dead. I think Luke’s gonna die. And then Glass and Wells can be together. My two least favorite narrators in a relationship. Wonderful. The character feel less mature then they did on the show. But that could just be the actors ages and the less of a focus on romance. Also Octavia would never have decided to stay with the kids in the show. She would have brought the kids with her to mount weather.

I wish I knew what was happening on the colony. Is everyone dead yet? Everything is very fast paced. I’m pretty sure so far this book takes place over the span of like two days. But so much has happened. They don’t give a specific timeline and it’s kinda confusing. Also I still don’t care about Glass, Luke, or Wells at all and I want to know more about Clarke and Bellamy and Sashas people.

I still don’t like Sasha. The story is progressing very fast. Bellamy and Clarke have gotten together, broken up, gotten together again, broken up again, and gotten together again in the span of like three weeks. Plus they all seem to have completely gotten over everyone’s death and the fear of the earthborn faction that wants to kill them.

I don’t trust Sasha at all. She’s so manipulative and I think she was the one to kill Priya. I hate Wells. Hate him. He sucks. Plus I don’t care about Glass or Luke at all. The whole thing on the Colony is interesting though. I just wish there was some form of communication between the delinquents and the Colony. The wristbands at least.

I wish this book focused less on romance and more on world building. Wells isn’t a likeable character at all and he needs to accept that Clarke doesn’t like him romantically anymore and move on. I want to know about the grounder and their culture and the history of earth before the cataclysm. I wonder if mount weather will have people or not.

I wish more time was spent on world building. I really don’t care that Glass left Luke and then he dated Camille and then Glass again. That’s boring. I want to know about the grounder and the history of Earth before the cataclysm. Also I feel like it’s kinda unrealistic for Clarke to have gotten over Thalia’s death in like three days but to still be upset about Lilly.

Octavia being a drug addict was something I did not see coming. That whole thing parallels Charlottes death in the show, except instead of Octavia killing her self and the murphy character being banished, she and Bellamy were banished. Although they were planing on leaving anyways so. Also glass being pregnant? Do they not have abortions? And I guess it was actually wells fault this time.

I’m really enjoying it so far. There’s a lot more characters that weren’t on the show than I was expecting, but a few of them are very obviously name changes. Like Glass is sort of like Raven, and Luke is sort of like Finn, but so is Thalia. I think I’m most excited for Bellamy and Clarke’s relationship, as well as Octavias plot line.

A lot of new information was introduced in this chapter. I really like Sunandi so far. Lin as well. It's interesting to see the difference in cultures that's already so present. N.K. Jemisin is an incredible world-builder. I still have to take notes though, and because of that, it's gonna take me forever to get through this duology.

Very complicated. Lots of new names, places, and terms. I really like the explanation for why the sun and the moon are the way they are. The eclipses and new moons were a nice touch. I wonder if Waking Moon is okay with the relationship between Sun and Dreaming Moon though.
