Rowan's not having a good time

Well then. I didn’t expect Volta to die. Now both Rowan and Citra have reasons to win other than self preservation.

Awww I like him. He's nice. I'm glad he decided to still teach her. Hopefully.

I knew it!!! It's Faraday!! He faked his own death!! But why? And did Scythe Curie know about it and send her there without telling her that Faraday is still alive?

I didn't see it coming at all that Curie was Faraday's apprentice. I would have thought it'd be the other way around, because she seems far more well known than him. I thought she was alive during mortal times, and when she became a scythe she decided to go after politicians that had hurt people before poverty and politics were eliminated. I don't think Citra will end up killing Gerald. I think she'll recognize him.

Who is Gerald Van Der Gans? Is that Scythe Goddard's original name? Or is that someone we haven't met yet. It could be that sort of nice Scythe that lives with Scythe Goddard and Rowan. Or maybe that's Scythe Faraday's Original name. It's cool that the Thunderhead has a personality, and it's not just a monotone robot voice. I don't think I've seen that done before. Apart from Jarvis, Friday, Karen, and Edith I guess

I'm not sure how I feel about this false accusation plot line. I think I would have preferred if Citra and Scythe Curie found out who killed Faraday on their own and then have the book end with them finding out just before the third conclave and then something happen that lets both Rowan and Citra live. I don't think Scythe Curie knows what's going on at all. Why did she leave for the market that day specifically?

I totally saw Esme being Xenocrates daughter coming. Also I think I got Tyger and Rowan confused for a bit there. I thought Rowan was the one who enjoyed splatting. Seeing Rowan and Citra consider each other while I know both their motivations is really interesting. I still hope Citra wins though. I don't think anyone who wants to kill should be a scythe, like Faraday said.

So Rowan hasn't completely lost his compassion. Good. I honestly hope Citra wins the competition between her and Rowan. I like her better so far, but best case scenario neither of them die and they can be scythe friends.

Woah. Rowan is certainly changing. Will he be able to stick to his decision about letting Citra kill him?

I really hope Rowan doesn't give in to the temptation Goddard offers him. Also, what's up with Esme? Why is she so important? I thought she was like 12/13 not 9 or 10!! What does a grown man want with a child that young? Speaking of that, what are the laws against rape or sexual assault? Does jail exist? Are people fined? Or do their nanites prevent something like that from ever happening.

I might like Rhonda a bit. I hope she and Citra can become friends. It's be good for her to have a friend if she becomes a scythe.

I feel like if I were Scythe Curies apprentice I would be in a constant state of fear because of her methods of public humiliation as punishment. I would never know what would make her actually mad and what was her uploading her pubic image.

what!!! I guess that does make sense, but I was really beginning to like Faraday. I am curious about Curie and Goddard though. I've read parts of both their journals, but Curie is far more moral that Goddard and I'm not sure how Rowan will deal with that.

i feel like this romance is a bit rushed. that might just be me though, since i don't think i could ever date anyone without being their friend for a few years first. will scythe Faraday give them a punishment? or is the threat of having to glean the other or be gleaned punishment enough.

well that just upped the stakes. I wonder what the real worst thing that Citra ever did is. Maybe it was helping Faraday with a gleaning? or maybe something to do with her brother? I think I like Scythe Curie. She seems like a fun and wise aunt who never got married and had kids because she loves her job as a researcher so much.

this conclave is very interesting. it’s a whole culture that nobody except the scythes knows about. also! we finally met curie! it would be interesting if she was the villain, as we would have had her inner thoughts throughout the book.

i’m liking rowan and citras relationship. i really hope the book gives them time to be friends before pushing a romance.

i actually really like faraday. loving with him would be terrifying but he seems very kind and like a good mentor. i wonder if we’ll ever find out who h.s. curie is.

their nanites can control their emotions and limit despair??? i sorta wish i had that. i wonder if some people try to kill others, and what happens to them?

is same going to be a scythe?

it’s so interesting that people are just uploaded to the thunderhead. and friends and family can talk to it sort of like an ai.

i think the villains were just introduced

this is very good so far. i wonder if the relationship between faraday and citra and rowan will become familial in any way. well, apart from citra and rowan ending up together.
