Really skimming through this one. The first 30% dragged like no other. The saving grace is the main romantic plotline for sure!

I feel like the main two finally coming together was a bit out of left field, straight from I HATE YOU to let's get crazy. I guess the connection is feasible enough but okay sure.

Loving this world though. Excited to see this plot pick up.

I've read a lot of slow burns lately that just feel unrealistic or forced. This novel is the total opposite. I believe every word and actually believe their reasons doing what they do. I have loved these two main characters at every step of their journey.

Do I need to force my husband to start baking now? I fear this is attractive.

I don't know if two characters have ever felt so real to me.

MAJOR Throne of Glass vibes. The plot may be simple and straightforward now but I can tell that this series is going to be detailed and stunning. I nee to know what Smyth knows about Ary's past!!! Like there is history here; I can taste it!

The main couple meeting already has me ON THE FLOOR. This book is gonna end me no doubt.

This book is simply straightforward and yet the characters are some of the most complex and deep I’ve read in a long time! This novel has me on the edge of my seat!!

The way this book seamlessly flows from strategy by the main characters into flirting/genuine adoration is sending me over the edge.

Oh they REALLY mean steamy cat and mouse game. This love triangle is going to destroy me I can already tell.

Hello fast paced! Loving this, there's no time to get bored with world building or skim pages early on because this plot is plotting and the love triangle is already teasing me.

Early on and I can guess at how these two timelines will intertwine, but I will say that I am looking forward more toward the 1917 timeline. I really hope I don't get to the end of this book and wish they were two separate novels, but the earlier timeline already seems to be rushing right along.

Time will tell!

Already completely invested. This feels like the perfect combination of Meyer's Timeless series with this self published series she has been cranking out! Cannot wait to devour it.

Some aspects of this novel are drawn out a bit too much and I honestly don’t feel like the MMC has shown the reader enough personality yet. Plenty of swoon worthy moments but I just don’t “know” him yet.

The 'touch her and die' vibes are VIBING.

Plot and romance are RAMPING up and I am sat. I really wish I had time to just sit and binge it!

This book is absolutely delectable so far! I’m a tad more interested in the world building and the pirate life more than the romance so far, but that’s probably a personal preference.

Still super struggling with Carter and the government conspiracy side of this novel as it’s nowhere serious or shadowy enough. Also… girl where are the x-files references 🥲
