My historical fiction and thriller romance loving heart is having a hard time with this one. I just feel like it’s trying to be too many things at once. Carter as a character is really killing the more serious tone this book needed to really work for me… All that said, I am still having a decent time with El and the mounting plot. Also keeping my eyes peeled for X-Files references.

This is the first rom com with a action/adventure plot and I don’t know how to feel haha. I’m really enjoying El as a character but having a hard time thinking Carter fits into the book’s vibe. I feel like he needs to be tweaked from a nerdy soft hearted boy to harder man who feels wronged by the past and it would be more believable.

Already enjoying this so so much! I already know these two characters are just going to absolutely wreck me. Hoping for a great blend of rom com with action and adventure!

Okayyyy now some of those twists are just too good for words. The ONLY thing that is keeping me from putting this in God tier are those god forsaken questions. Paragraphs of sentences written as questions is coming off as lazy and I cannot believe editors did not try to reel them in. I find myself just reframing them as normal sentences. Still, I bet she fixes this for books 2 and 3.

I can't quite remember where I stopped, but OMG THAT TWIST. I saw it coming but the way it finally all came together. MORE PLEASE. These two main characters delectable together. Usually I hate dislike to lovers in this format but this totally worked for me. Everything was great build up to the moment where secrets were shared and true colors realized. I am loving this book!

Such a fun start. A mix between the Godkissed Bride series and Pirates of the Caribbean. I already have so many notes that I cannot wait to include in a full review. I already know I’m going to devour this thing.

smh. Usually I'm all for separation and angst, but the two leads haven't even gotten to show us how much they care for each other yet. This book is starting to annoy me... and not in a fun way. This has been 246 pages of nothing.

Maybe I'm just reading this at a bad time but I just cannot get into this one like the first in the series. It feels far less action heavy and hardly replaces it with anything of interest. The main couple build up has been going on a bit too long for my taste and really I'm having a hard time caring after some of the MMC's choices. He doesn't deserve you Eleanor.

Still kind of waiting for something exciting to happen, but I am invested in Eleanor's story and am rooting for her wholeheartedly.

The story is just starting to pick up steam and I am loving the historical descriptions just as much as the first novel in this series. Not sure if the plot is as strong as book 1, but I am enjoying it nonetheless.

Literally reignited my want to watch Shane and Ryan in the Ghost Files. This novel combines two of my favorite shows and creates a super sweet love story and super relatable characters.

The amount of niche X-Files references has me screaming.

Also… these two main characters are everything to me!

Rory... the MAN THAT YOU ARE. The tension between these two has me heated. THIS is how you build a romantic relationship.

This world. These characters. The MAGIC. Holy hell I cannot wait to read the rest of this (though I wish it would never end).

Wait…. Is SHE the moth!? Oh this book is gonna break me.

Past the 50% mark now. I'm having a harder time connecting with these main characters then with past Painter novels but I am still enjoying the dancing elements!

I really thought the majority of the book would take place on the Lusitania… only 60 pages in and it’s already come and gone.

This is also geared towards a much younger audience but is still well written and interesting so far.

Felt like the plot stalled for a moment but back on track with the addition of the singles party and the leads finally warming up to each other.

Really enjoying the feeling of this being a DWTS and Frasier combo lol.

Kelsey's novels just get better and better! There is so much of the author in Phoebe and I am already super invested in both the plot and characters! I'm not really a 'comedy' type of person so I was concerned I wouldn't like the main character, but her backstory keeps her grounded and makes me invested and rooting for her!

I thought I knew how this was go but I was oh so wrong 😭

This book continues to just throw the most emotional surprises at me and I am shocked by each one!
