Unlike the first book, I find myself thinking about this one when I'm not reading. I actively want to continue! Also much better written than the first book!

Already written much better than book 1. So glad the juvenile dialogue was-for the most part- left behind.

Hello, LOVING THIS. I genuinely don't know who to believe and I love the route the story is taking Basten. Though the tropes are cliche as all get out I genuinely don't know what to believe. The world building keeps getting better and better as well.

The level of writing has elevated since the last book and while the plot seems a bit cliche for this series, I'm still super excited to see where it leads!

300+ pages of the most insufferable love triangle I’ve ever read.

Unless this dialogue gets better in the next 200 pages, this book may not even get 3 stars from me 😬

This book became infinitely more interesting with the introduction of these dragons.

I feel like I’m back in my Divergent days… but not sure how much I’m vibing with these main characters yet.

Cutesy and there is already far more chemistry between the leads when compared to the first novel.

Perfectly agreeable little romcom. Painter always sticks great endings so I'm excited to see how this one turns out.

It took me a while to get over my own trauma caused by soccer in my life but here we are. Loving this so far, but hoping to see this nearly perfect man, Ethan, do something to make him a bit more complex.

So far, this is probably the best book I've read this year. I am loving the mystery in this novel as well as the main characters. Also just enamored by the lesser known history that is on display here. Excited to continue reading!

I really do like how it seemed like the first book was its own thing (with hints of the future) and now the rest of the series will be following the plot of Gods and war. It's very Throne of Glass and I am here for it. Also super excited to see the dynamic between Sabine and Rian. I smell a devastating love triangle on the horizon.
