Gonna be sad saying goodbye to these characters, but I reckon my third read of this series won't be in as long a time as was between my first and this reread (4~ years)

Will drop extensive thoughts when I finish it tomorrow, but yeah, this is my favourite series of all time.

Stupidly good character writing and dynamics

This is basically my fav book of all time. Can't wait to reread it

It's genuinely astonishing how fast Hobb is able to immerse you into the stories. I also like how this is much more dialogue heavy than Farseer. The multiple POVs is also working really well. Oh and I like the worldbuilding a lot.

Yea this trilogy is gonna rank high in my top all time list I reckon

A pretty incredible start. Hobb's character work, prose, and immersion into the story is hard to match. I do hope Kyle is at least *somewhat* emotionally complicated (like kennit), rather than being just the biggest cunt in the world and only that (like Regal). Without it, him being the main antagonist doesn't really work if everyone else has loads of emotional depths (same w Regal in farseer--a criticism I had)

Good introduction

Probably the most disappointed i've been in a book in the last 5 years. Adored b1 and b2, and I had so much confidence that it was gonna end on a banger. And it's not. This isn't very good at all.

Just very disappointing so far... it's jumping from place to place so fast, too many storylines. None of them can develop fast enough, and we don't have any time to sit with the characters. Pacing just feels generally off. This entire book also does not seem to logically and cohesively follow from the first two. Man, I was so excited for it too...
