Mostly uncompelling and kinda boring. There's a few scenes that interest me, either when a character is emotionally attached or when there's dialogue, but both are sparse. The latter especially hurts my enjoyment as im a big dialogue reader.

In hindsight, I rated b1-3 too highly on goodwill cus I like the series conceptually, just not its execution. That realisation leaves me more negative about this book.

Enjoying this a lot and absolutely blazing through it, BUT the frequent over the top stereotypes and stupid politics is definitely a thing

Really really enjoying it!

This is definitely my kind of jam. Really love exploring alien settings through science-- evolutionary biology, chemistry, physics and engineering and some creative thinking and problem solving all coming together.

Abercrombie is the type of author where every scene of his characters interacting is gonna be a lot of fun no matter what they do. I'm largely a dialogue reader, and Abercrombie's dialogue is only matched by Scott Lynch and GRRM. So so fun

Also, all characters feel so vivid and distinct. Hard to pick favourites.

Really liking it so far!

Despite probably being my favourite author, I haven't read an Abercrombie book in 2 years (and 3 days--I checked). Based on the first 2 chapters, I reckon I'll like this a lot. And byzantine vibes are dope

Pretty large variance between the things I like and feel kinda ambivalent about, but I am liking it

For the first time in a DCC book, all the stuff around the dungeon is more enjoyable and interesting than the stuff in the dungeon. Not sure if that's a good sign. This dungeon is def less interesting than most others, and the mtg/yugioh stuff is kinda whatever, but the big picture politics above the dungeon is v v good. Really liking where the AI fuckery stuff is going, and all the lawyer/liason scenes stand out

The glup shitto levels are a bit too high even for DCC
