Wasn’t expecting the nonlinear structure but I’m loving it (also it’s a lot more suspenseful tonally so far)!

Not sure why thrillers LOVE their female protagonist to be so inapt and ignorant; faked her identity but can't remember the details in conversation, and she's writing a novel, but have never heard of writers camp...

"Building and demolition seem to happen here within the span of a human life—so citizen can either watch their own mortal decline, or see themselves outliving their cities."

I swear I don’t have a heart of stone, but I’m going to flip if I read another character with tears in their eyes...

Observation: characters tend to break into tears very quickly in this book.... (It's also more romance-focused that I anticipated)

"We should not try to understand so much, and accept some more."

Maybe that is what beauty was, for humans. Accidents, imperfections, placed inside a pretty pattern."
