A couple chapters ago I was happy to find out a 'reveal' has gone against convention—then NOPE, that was a fake-out and the actual reveal is the same old cliché.

Fearing the worst for these characters—this is definitely more literary fiction (than a true thriller), but I'm fully invested in it now!

That last chapter was intense—super punchy writing

"She let out a breath she did not know she had been holding."

I wasn't going to mention the usage of this iconic sentence but this is the SECOND time it appeared in this novel.

How can a government secret initiative relies on 1 person with no plan B?! I hope there's a reveal/twist coming up to explain that... or else...

... Don't know how I feel about this so far, there are so many glaring plot holes, much more so comparing to 'The One'.

This is SO atmospheric, and surprisingly sarcastic!

This is giving me movie The Lighthouse vibe.

...highly questionable action from the hero... let's see how the story resolve itself.

This is extremely readable for a 30+ years old HR—still thoroughly enjoying it!

I'm detecting a pattern: 30 years old men marrying / falling in love with their 20 years old female cousins.

So many sudden deaths...

For a book with an objectively fast pace (each chapter is less than 8 pages), I'm surprisingly getting less and less engaged... the characters are extremely vanilla and generic.

DEFINITELY a page turner! When a book features multiple storylines (5 here), there bound to be preferences—and at the moment the gap between ones I enjoy and ones I don't care about is pretty wide.
