This is my second time reading this book. As a retired grunt, I always have a strong feeling of empathy for Swagger. PTSD, nightmares, temptation of crawling in the bottle, etc. is something that a lot of vets suffer from including myself.

During my brief time in the navy, I was fortunate to be on the ship when the author was in command of it. I doubt that the lofty admiral remembers a lowly radarman, but I remember him as an excellent skipper; one of the best skippers that I was privileged to serve with.

I am usually leery of BDSM stories, but this series has been pretty good. The sex is fairly hot, but still on the lighter side of BDSM. No TPE (yet), and mostly submission by word rather than hardware (although his tie was used once).

Ever since the 50 Shades of Puke fiasco, I am leery of BDSM books. So far this has been an interesting read, but as it is fantasy, I do wish that the sex isn't so safe. I know that in real life safe sex is smart, but in erotic escapist literature, I like non-safe sex.
