I have loved the Recluse series ever since I bought the first book in a Chula Vista, CA Waldenbooks nearly 30 years ago (my how time flies).

I've read this whole series so far and the writing has been decent. I followed this story because I wanted to see where the author took the characters. I usually avoid monster girl harem stories; although I will read one occasionally on KU if it looks interesting enough. This series falls in the interesting enough on KU, but not sure that I would purchase them.

I've read this whole series so far. The writing varies from meh to fairly decent. Sex is graphic, bordering on word porn and includes multi-generation incest (grandmother, mother and son - no one under 18), group sex (mostly some permutation of MFFFF etc.), lesbian, anal and extremely rarely, straight sex. Various mentions of sorcery, (black?) magic, and paganism with trong harem elements tied to the PC's magic. YMMV

I will admit to holding my nose reading the first book in this trilogy. I was expecting a real stinking turkey. Actually not too bad and falls fairly into the "decent enough read" category. Not sure I would buy them, but on KU they are well written enough to enjoy some mindless escapist literature. Sex is fairly graphic, not quite Penthouse Letters but not fade to black either. Language is amazingly clean.

I have enjoyed this author's SciFi and his Science Fantasy (I guess that is the classification for this sub-genre) previously set in this world. Time to change up my reading a bit.

Changing up my reading a little. I have always loved the Saga of Recluse, so I think I will reread some of the early books.

I like how Mercy Thompson does become stupidly powerful unlike Anita Blake. I also like that Mercy is not screwing everything in pants. I do hope that the walking stick comes back as I liked that in the story.

Most of the Mercy Thompson books start slow but pick up in the middle and get really good.

This is my third time through this book, but I enjoy the short stories.

I have read this whole series from the beginning. I mostly skip the game mechanics, as the only thing that keeps me reading this series is my curiosity of where the characters are going to end up.

So far I have only read one of these stories in another anthology, but that is OK. I have always liked this author's short stories.

Although I never really got into the Alpha & Omega series (which is tied to the Mercy Thompson series) the short story in this book was very good.
