I have the original TOR paperback around somewhere. I read this back in the early 90s on deployment and forgotten how much I liked this series.

I saw the meh Jennifer Lawrence movie. With noted few exceptions the book is always better than the movie. Having served in the US military towards the end of the Soviet Union, I am interested in seeing how many of the Cold War relics I recognize.

I started this book with high hopes as I have enjoyed some of the author's other books. Some authors such as Modesitt jr., David Weber and others are able to change genres (i.e. - Fantasy to SciFi) while others do not change genres well. So far so good, an interesting story with a great hook at the opening.

I have been eagerly waiting on the next Gray Man book. Better than the Bourne series by far to me.

I've read this book before. I have admired the old Marine. Before he passed, I got to listen to the old Gunny speak at a shooting contest.

I have debated for several years whether or not I wanted to read this series. GameLit is not really something I generally read, but this story is more character driven rather than game driven. The author writes well enough that I want to know what happens to the characters. I skip the game mechanics.
