One of the better books in this series. The action starts faster, rather than about half-way through the book as in some of the other Recluse books.

So far a really good book for a first in a series. Minor editing mistakes, but nothing major to distract from the story. Interesting MC with a tragic enough back story.

So not as cringe-worthy as I feared and so far a decent read. Price was low enough for me to chance a purchase, and I have not regretted it to this point. Decent action and not too many editing errors that detract from the story.

I saw the author of this book hunting with Steven Rinella on Meateater (one of my guilty pleasures, dreaming of hunting that I am no longer physically able to do) and thought the book sounded interesting. Great read so far.

This third book in the series starts slow, but does eventually get to some action. Not quite the Harry Potter magic school rip off that I feared it might be. This book is probably slower than some readers would want. I admit that I would like more action and less internal conflict, but hope that it leads to more action later. I wish that the two wives didn't immediately go bisexual, but it is a trope standard.

I have read quite a bit of this author's works. Some of it I have liked and some of the books I didn't care for. I read and have collected all of ERB's books having read them in my youth when my uncle, who introduced me to SciFi gave me a copy of all of ERB's books. This book is decent, but I found some of the religious references tedious.

While I found this author's fantasy hardly palatable, I have always liked this first book in the Hardwired series. I always found the second book, Voice in the Whirlwind meh.
