Not the paranormal mystery adventure I was hoping for and too much about family dialogue that tries too hard to be dreamy and witty. I loathe the fowardness of the eldest Sister, Cristobel, especially with her Dad. I wonder why the kids call him "Jack"? The novel is very slow, containing only this banter I have little patience for until nearly 100 pages. Maybe the titular trio of "tricksters" will get intriguing.

I thought this authoress was Canadian but see no such reference here. Ah well, Liz Berry is divine anyway. Hello, instantly new favourite book!

This is getting intriguing and mysterious. Let's see where this Italian gothic novel goes. Happy St. Valentine's Day, friends!

The beginning is way too typical of the mass produced "gothic mystery": a missing Sibling, who raised her because their parents died. Can't there be living parents of children having an overseas adventure or mystery? Now that the Etruscan note has come into this plot, it is gaining the intrigue I hoped for. It reminds me of the wonderful, late Lyn Hamilton; the Canadian who penned "The Etruscan Chimera" in 2002.

Oh, get this novel over with fast. I will read it in one go this afternoon and save a new novel for bedtime, in my favourite "standard mystery" level which actually feels adult.

It is a pleasure to return to Simon Brett's humour and fine writing. I only want him to stop writing about people drinking. When you have a character, Hugo, doing so even more abysmally than Charles Paris, it is over the top. It is tiresome and depressing to go nowhere but work and drinking scenes. Move on please, there is more to see and do in novels.

This is beautiful storywriting and I am enjoying it immensely. It is rare to find fiction that has no hardship or drama at the centre of it and seldom do I read outside genres that spotlight a mystery or paranormal phenomenon. The images woven of girls playing among flowers and adult Daughters admiring their lovely, aged Mother, are sublime. Thank you, my sweet friend Kerri, for giving this birthday present to me.

I am surprised this book only uses the word "meridian" once. Donna Eden almost entirely uses them for her triumphant mode of healing. Stephen Gascoigne refers to them a few times as "channels" but does not dicuss healing through them, show each of their paths, nor tell readers that doing this heals us! It is a simple, powerful, helpful thing to do that is inappropriate to omit. Down to four stars for that reason.

This education is wonderfully guided, historically and naturally explained.
This sturdy book's rich pages are beautifully coloured and displayed. Absorbing its helpful, encouraging wisdom is a pleasure.

A wonderfully guided, easy, accessible educational journey! I would not have sought a history on the spread and changes of Chinese medicine but this provenance is interesting too. It is wise to know why, despite modern medicine being inadequate by itself, health strategies treating us as parts of nature for 4000 years became what we are calling "alternative"!
