The Reverend Lady leaves and they talk about the possibilities of Paul being the dude with their sort of stuff and the fate of his father because apparently they already know. and also a little bit about the houses and politics. along with a poem and things about his dreams.

No one’s died yet and Patroclus takes in a girl from Troy and they become friends. And then theres a whole little squad of them.

the lord harkonnen dude and his nephew and servant talk about how they’re going to destroy the atreides family line and then make fun of each other.

they just landed on the beach and were attacked.

The mystery of Dorian’s portrait finally comes into play. He also dumped Sybil but then realized how stupid he was so he’s going to try and win her back after he totally grilled her.

Paul is getting prepared to travel to Arrakis, his dreams are addressed, and he meets the Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohaim and they do the needle test (gom jabbar) and then the other thing where he puts his hand into the box. The whole Atreides House getting Arrakis is also explained. And spice has a name - melange.

so ari gets hit by a car…but yeah best book ever

my love for this book is still as strong as it was two years ago. i relate to ari so much more, as well as dante, and i can definitely feel a lot more connected to it. i almost cried reading it. there’s just something about it. i can see myself in the characters in a good way. much love <3

jr. wins his basketball game against wellpinit & rowdy. his sister mary dies in a trailer fire. everyone gets drunk and dies. rowdy and him make up and become friends again. we hear about turtle lake and how they climbed a tree. the school year ends for both of them. jr. asks rowdy to come to reardan w/ him. rowdy calls jr. a nomad because he’ll always be moving.

Eugene and Grandmother Spirit die. Jr. makes the basketball varsity team and grieves.

jr. continues going to school in reardan. he becomes friends with roger and gordy and dates penelope. he also becomes popular and they find out that he’s poor. his sister mary runs away from home (to Montana) and gets married. we also get a character desc. for his grandma and earl (p’s dad). penelope also plays volleyball and wants to be an architect & study at stanford.

jr transfers schools and gets into a fight. we’re also introduced to his family, math teacher, and best friend. his dog dies and he hits his math teacher in the nose. he also goes to the annual powwow w/ rowdy where he gets beat up.

harry is at the burrow for christmas and has a talk with Scrimgeour. fred, george, harry & ron paint a garden gnome/troll thing and put it on top of the christmas tree. lupin also talks about his time at hogwarts w/ the marauders (a little bit). :)

it’s okay-ish

i read through the prologue/the author’s note thing and that was around 10-14 pages but otherwise I didn’t start to actually read the book

harry luna mclaggen and hermione go to slughorns christmas party and snape and draco fight

there’s a quidditch game and apparently hermione likes ron and ron likes lavender brown and harry likes ginny but constantly tries to deny it

harry and dumbledore go back into the pensieve to go over tom marvolo’s time at the orphanage.

katie bell gets cursed and harry tries one of the prince’s fun spells on ron

Harry learns about Voldemort’s family.

harry gets the Half-Blood Prince’s potions book and gets a little bottle of Felix Felicis. They get their schedules. They learn about Amortentia.

Malfoy beat up Harry on the Hogwarts Express and he gets picked up by Tonks. The welcoming feast happens. Snape escorts him to the castle and takes 70 points from Gryffindor. The kids have quit the care for magical creatures class and Hagrid was late to the feast because he was talking with Grawp, who had just moved onto the side of a mountain.
