Just really enjoying this!

The actual book ends at 66% of the Kindle edition, with the rest taken up by end notes (just citations, nothing to read), some illustrations that would have been more informative within the text, and other back matter.

I knew this was coming, so wasn't surprised by reaching the end, though I was disappointed the final chapter, "Tracking the Next Contagion", didn't go into more detail about expected future scenarios.

Definitely the sort of book that makes you constantly report fascinating tidbits to your companions.

Engaging and complex family story.

I knew this was going to be a tricksy book, and for a while I wondered if I might be disappointed by the tricks, but as I get deeper into Part 2, I'm pleased by how it's shaping up.

All kinds of intriguing things happening in this story, and I'm sure there are many more to come. Enjoying reading about British pilots in WWII after the subject fascinated me in Atkinson's God in Ruins.

Finally getting to this book I've heard people raving about for years. Very intriguing start, and I'm definitely glad I avoiding learning much about the story beforehand.

Weird and wonderful. People's lives and the entire operations of a city are being taken over by the necessity of waiting in an endless line.

Intriguing story about an authoritarian bureaucracy. Seems to be a satire, but not that far from plausible.

Ominous and unsettling start, with references to mysterious vague entities: the Gate, the Disgraceful Events, the Quell Force, the Queue.

This is gripping, with an excellent premise about mediums taking reports from just-killed soldiers during WWI. But that premise means there's a lot of tragic death in this book, and I've shed quite a few tears already.
