I read this back in high school but remembered nothing about it. Inspired to pick it up again by a couple of podcasts that discussed the book and author.

Curious to see which threads are going to be wrapped up in this book rather than in a future installment.

A delightful story of carefully observed details and interactions.

Reading this because I recently enjoyed FONSECA by Jessica Francis Kane, a novel with Fitzgerald as the main character.

"This [weather shift] will set the stage for the fateful, catastrophic events that will soon befall those who are lost and those risking their lives to find them." Though Gagne takes time to include careful detail, this is also a page-turner!

So interesting how this is developing.

Gagne does a great job introducing the characters and setting up the tension of the situation about to unfold.

You could get a thousand of them online merely posting a picture of a cute animal and the caption 'it me' or copying and pasting someone else's viral joke. Likes rained from the sky. We were drowning in liking. I wanted more. I wanted a taste of greatness. Just a goddamn taste."

The situation and characters pulled me in right away, and I'm so curious to see where it's going.

Really enjoying how clever and funny this is.

"I was in line for an Ann Leckie signing dressed as Gregor Samsa Clegane. (An improvised cockroach costume and a plastic battle-axe in one hand.)" This is a hilarious book on so many levels.

This is already so inventive and funny!

I liked the section about Pauline Breedlove that alternates between passages summarizing phases of her life and evocative passages in her own voice.

Book Riot is going to be doing a discussion, which prompted me to finally pick up this classic.

I love these characters, and this strikes a great balance between coziness and edginess.

Great opening gets into the story fast, and I'm already feeling affection for these bots!

I did not like the way this ends.

It doesn't seem like the alien thing is going to go anywhere, but I could be proved wrong.
