Really enjoying spending time with this character as she figures out the cultures of this world.

I think I've figured out one of the twists, and I suspect it's the least fun sort of surprise reveal.

Looking forward to getting to know this Observer as she finds out what's in store beyond the carefully curated city experience of the world she's been assigned to.

The setup promises a story as fun and over-the-top as the first book!

I liked the spaceship narrator and its musings about its mission in "Slow Time Between the Stars" by John Scalzi.

I enjoyed the characters and situations in "Just Out of Jupiter’s Reach" by Nnedi Okorafor, though there wasn't enough justification for the whole premise.

Ann Leckie is good at writing alien characters, and I liked the narration and story in "The Long Game".

"Falling Bodies" by Rebecca Roanhorse - This is a bleak one. It touches on some interesting ideas, but I think it would have worked better with a stronger emotional connection to the protagonist.

"Void" by Veronica Roth is set on an interstellar ship that crosses vast expanses of space and time. It's a satisfying mystery following a janitor as she investigates the murder of a passenger.

Enjoyed the first story, "How It Unfolds" by James S. A. Corey. Cool scifi premise with a nicely structured relationship story inside it.

"The things she was stealing were different now, colossal: entire futures, perhaps lives, and he wondered how he hadn't noticed when her crimes became so enormous. It occurred to him that perhaps he hadn't been paying enough attention."

The backwards nature of this story is curious, so far delivering more questions than answers, but I remain intrigued.

Fascinating combination of questionable choices!

Engaging and mysterious, and very much Mandel's style of nonlinear storytelling and highly specific characters.

Fascinated by the characters in this family and all the secrets they're keeping from each other! Still not clear why this is taking place in 2040, so intrigued about how the future setting will come into place.

"Money was everywhere, and it was a failure of Brooke’s imagination not to understand this." The plot has finally taken a turn into something intriguing, and I'm eager to see how it will turn out.

"You think poor people care about money? You think poor people don't know they're poor, aren't resigned to it, aren't happy in some way, aren't at peace? The people who are obsessed with money aren't the rich who have it or the poor who don't. They're us. They're the big middle, it's all the rest of us, because we know what money can do. We know how we'll never get our hands on it, but we know it could make us free.”

Interesting, but still waiting for the story to really get going.

"He told me to have fun in Cali. Life is too short for old people to say the full names of places." Swiv's perspective on the world is so spot-on, and it cracks me up.

Continues to be hilarious. I have no idea what's going to happen, if anything.

This is so intense and absorbing!
