Great, completely absorbing story about characters caught up in a hard situation.

Excellent characters. I am excited (and nervous) to find out what's going to happen to them.

Great engaging voice and a heartbreaking setup for this narrator.

I'm having a few frustrations with things that are hinted at but go unrevealed for longer than I'd prefer, but otherwise enjoying this. Like the first book, there are a lot of interesting variations on how societies have formed in the changed world.

Intriguing opening! Cool to be back in this world but with a very different sort of story.

"She was uncertain what to do to disarm the cycles of annoyance they seemed to be entering into with one another, since once begun such cycles are difficult to break, in fact the opposite, as if each makes the threshold for irritation next time a bit lower, as is the car with certain allergies."

Rushing through this (when I should really be doing other things), but also not wanting to use it up too soon.

Grabbed hold of me from the first page with excellent writing, great characters, and the intriguing question of what's going on.

This was fantastic, and very different from anything else I've read.

One of the many things I'm enjoying about this are the parts that highlight the disagreements in the historical record.

I purposefully avoided learning too much about this book in advance beyond the basic subject matter. Wow, it's unusual, and cool.

Continues to be sad and real and funny, with great details and perceptive moments.

Some clever and exciting things in the final act. This was entertaining enough to read and would be fascinating to see staged (but why can't it be just a single play?), but still kind of weird that it exists.

The third act has been the most interesting, and I still maintain the whole thing should be shorter.

Things get more interesting by the end of the second act, but this story doesn't need to be two plays long.

My turn for a library copy finally arrived. I'm reading this out of curiosity rather than an expectation of enjoying it. I've finished the first act, and it's fine, but so far there's nothing to especially justify its existence.

Lots of great, real stuff in here about relationships.

"It's in the arguments that you ultimately felt the love. It's the passion inculcated by such dramas that makes you wish you could just one more time hear her say, 'Of course it's pronounced liberry,' a smirk lurking beneath her defensive facade, letting you know that soon you can smile and she can smile and you can kiss her and she can kiss you and everything will be fine."

Powerful opening had me tearing up by the end of the first chapter!

Story and characters are developing quite nicely!

This is not a book that would have caught my eye usually, but the author will be one of the honored guests at FOGcon this March, so I decided to give it a try, and I'm really enjoying the main character and the story!

"Amid the many rumors of coming upheaval, it remained difficult for Dodd and his peers in the diplomatic corps to imagine that Hitler, Göring, and Goebbels could endure much longer. Dodd still saw them as inept and dangerous adolescents ... who found themselves confronting an accumulation of daunting troubles."

Many disturbing parallels between this history and our current events.

Good stuff.
