I've made a similar resolution for this year: to read books form at least 12 different countries (and i'm making sure they are distributed around the world and not just from Europe and America). Love this list and have added some of the books to my own list! Thanks!
Sunili! Thanks for this and your article in the Guardian. I was elated when I saw so many Indonesian writers here! If you are interested in others may I suggest Ahmad Tohari "The Dancer" published by Lontar. Also the wonderful author Laksmi Pamuntjak. Her things are being translated or are translated. Best to you!
Hi, I read you article in the Guardian and it really got me thinking about choices made by me and for me. And I realised that without thinking about it, I read mostly white, western authors. And then I thought it was time I changed that.
I've started along the same path as you, and my first discovery has been Who Fears Death? I will let you know how it goes.

I'm excited to take up your challenge, but I would add this book: my favorite book by my favorite author, whose work I only discovered through a world literature class. I've read many others by him, including his most famous, "The Alchemist," but this one is stunning to me in its simplicity and depth.
