"Book 2: started good, even better than the 1st. Takes place 15 years later (you must have read the 1st volume), again focus on our students (now adults). Ismaël is a "Fréquence" (or head of one, like an emperor). Still, some uneven bits, gaps for the reader to fill in. Characters still indistinguishable, no proper personality (to me). Again, not consistent enough to "fully" enjoy the story. 240 pages to go for V2." — Nov 24, 2025 11:09PM

"Yes, still going... very slowly, also because you have to keep your mind to it, even if it's a bit of a page-turner. Circumstances just don't allow me to go faster, also as other books come in-between." — Jun 10, 2024 12:40AM

“The best arguments in the world won't change a person's mind. The only thing that can do that is a good story.”

“People aren’t the apex species they think they are. Other creatures-bigger, smaller, slower, faster, older, younger, more powerful-call the shots, make the air, and eat sunlight. Without them, nothing.”

“Buddha’s words: A tree is a wondrous thing that shelters, feeds, and protects all living things. It even offers shade to the axmen who destroy it.”

“Like every human being, Alvin was in some measure a machine, his actions predetermined by his inheritance. That did not alter his need for understanding and sympathy, nor did it render him immune to loneliness or frustration. To his own people, he was so unaccountable a creature that they sometimes forgot that he still shared their emotions.”
