"Not bad. First of all it's Holly Black and she's a great writer. Also it's easy to read and the flow is great. It's just that like the A Court of Thorns series that borrows/ rips off from Paranormal series this book takes a concept made popular recently by independent writers like Tijaan, Elle Kennedy, CM Stunich, Anna Todd, Penelope Douglas: The Bully Romance.
I like it more as done by Black. I hate Paper Princess."

"Outside booktube many people think YA is a silly genre. Marketing New adult as YA only shows why the traditional publishing industry's in trouble: They ignore what people need and want to read. That's the reason they scoop as low as sending a book with erotic content to the 11-13 YO libraries and book retailers.

“What other well-kept secrets of the universe do you know?” “Hmmm,” I pretend to ponder this. “Wednesday is the most underrated day of the week. Hot baths can take away just about any ailment. Phlegm is the most horrible word in existence—not moist, like my mother insists. The world is worth saving, and I want to call you by something other than Pestilence because, despite what you say, names do matter.”

“Love has a funny way of rearranging priorities.”

“It’s just … religion up until now has been a matter of faith. It hardly seems like religion for me to believe now that there’s proof.”
Laura Thalassa, Pestilence

“Getting angry at one of the horsemen of the apocalypse for bringing about the end of man is like getting angry at ice for being cold.”

“What’s God like?” I ask. “That is not a subject I can discuss with mortals.” Of course it isn’t. “Well, then can you at least tell me what it’s like?” I ask. “What what’s like?” Pestilence’s grip has moved so that he’s now cupping my arm, his thumb rubbing circles into my flesh. “I don’t know—death. The Great Beyond.” I hold out my hand to catch a flake of snow “It would be easier to explain sight to the blind,” Pestilence says. “It can’t be understood by description alone; it must be experienced.” What is the use of having a horseman around if he won’t answer any of the fun questions?”
