This was a horror novella. It starts with Peter (who has problem with money and family). Peter was lured by a old time partner in crime for a new job. Work promised money. But, Peter agreed to do it because his friend’s son was lost during the surveillance (he liked the boy[young man] too). And from there on it’s all about plans gone wrong and existence falling into horror.

| It was rather disappointing. The stories lack in quality that Junji Ito is good at keeping. I wanted to rate it two stars. However, I think Soichi was worse than this, so I cannot give it less than three. | |

| There are things I didn't like, but there are many concepts I really liked. I felt good that this book is not about humankind at all, it is about monsters. There is no guilt, no half hearted measure, just pure thriving by a monster. Nothing else matt ...more | |

“Sometimes I read the same books over and over and over. What's great about books is that the stuff inside doesn't change. People say you can't judge a book by its cover but that's not true because it says right on the cover what's inside. And no matter how many times you read that book the words and pictures don't change. You can open and close books a million times and they stay the same. They look the same. They say the same words. The charts and pictures are the same colors.
Books are not like people. Books are safe.”

“Master Graves was incensed and said, as punishment for my disruption, I would have to write my letters an extra ten times that day.
"Ten times the better I'll know them, then." I said. "How strange that you should punish me by ensuring I come out more educated than Roden, who has tried to obey you.”
