I used to act in our church drama troupe. It was a large church and each of our performances was before about 1500 people. That was fun but the extent of my acting experience.

All my photography is in New Mexico at present but I'm in process of moving to a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains very soon. (I HAVE to be in the mountains no matter what state I live in)

P.S. Agnes was a nickname (actually a code name) I used in the 7th grade, and when I ran away from home in 1969 I used it rather than my real name and it got shortened to lil Aggie and it stuck!

I, myself, am a singer/songwriter/actor who has recently turned author. My 2 top ten recordings were CONCRETE & CLAY (as a singer) and NAVY BLUE (as a writer)...both in the early 1960's. Did you get a chance to read The Little Black Fish? I see that I have attracted some attention from the group members. I am looking forward to your comments considering that although the book is for children yet, the author has wonderfully inserted messages in the story which shows a path only uderstandable by advanced readers and adults (in most cases).
I see many discussions posted for different books listed in this category and they are great discussions. But none asked me this question: "How can a children's book have "political" contents and be "banned?" Please tell me what you think.

Hi Marla. I'm glad to hear from you. Others in the educational system have said identical things. I so agree about the truly dedicated teachers. God, we need them, but their hands are so tied. It must be such a frustration to them.

I believe in learning with all my heart. Everything I've ever done is self-taught, but that still means "learning." I love it and will never stop doing it, but I was forced to do it on my own.

You got me at "70’s I turned my back on our educational system as I became increasingly aware of its purposeful destruction of creative intelligence. I am in full agreement with the philosophy of “the longer they teach you, the dumber you get.”
I work in the educational system and I soooo agree with you! But in another way also.
The dedicated teachers are constantly trying to find time to fit in plays, art of any kind, choir, anything that stimulates creativity. It makes me so sad to watch the f***ing educational system try to make our children into little robots. Yes education is needed, yes certain subjects need to be taught, and some teachers need to be reviewed... but balance it all out for crying out loud. At this point all I can say is that I am SO GLAD I grew up when we had that balance. I may not be the sharpest tack in the box but the ability to be creative made me strong. Being hammered with tests would have done me in a long time ago.
