" This book is phenomenal! I've read this book twice before and I loved it, and I can say I loved it just as much if not more during the reread. It has to be my favorite book by Sarah MacLean. I've read this book twice before and I loved it, and I can say I loved it just as much if not more during the reread. It has to be my favorite book by Sarah MacLean. In this book we have Callie, who is the spinster sister of an earl. After being on the shelf for a decade, she watches her sister get engaged. Callie is extremely happy for her but is also starts wondering why she has to stick to the rules of society when she is not going to get married. It is then that she creates a list of things she wants to do, including kissing someone passionately. Who better to do that then the Marquess of Ralston. I absolutely love Callie. She is so vibrant and passionate. Despite having been a spinster she really steps out of her comfort zone to tackle her list and go on adventures. I loved that we got to see a plus-sized heroine in this book and the only complaint I have is that the cover didn't reflect that. I would have loved to see a plus-sized heroine on the cover of a historical romance novel. Anyways back to Callie. I loved the way she went after what she wanted, and even though she had her doubts, especially at the beginning she didn't let that stop her. She allowed herself to go to Ralston's room and having heard him talk to her thinking she was his mistress she isn't afraid of getting angry at him or letting him know what she thinks. I also loved Ralston. He is a typical rake that found out he has a sister he never knew about, that he has to now introduce to society. He tries to become a little more reformed to prevent any scandals and thats when he meets Callie. I love how he is a little obsessed with her from the moment they meet again. While thinking she is insane for wanting to do the things on the list and growing more protective of her as they get to know each other better, he always helps her complete her adventures and never stops her, even if he may want to. I loved reading about all their adventures. Like when she went to tavern. I loved reading about Ralston sitting at the back and recognizing her when she comes in. He is so angry but also shocked and it is so funny to read. He is already also so possessive already too. And I love how Callie didn't back down when she realized he was there but instead took it as a challenge. And when she comes home and is discovered by Benedick, that was hilarious. The shock Benedick experiences after he finds out where she was, and with who. Only for her to blame it on him. Like I loved the siblings relationship. Also Callie's relationship with Mariana. Mariana is always on her side, from thinking she deserves to be a mother instead of just an aunt, to rooting for her on her adventures. She also does not hesitate to help with Juliana as well. I just loved Mariana. I laughed so hard when she came into Callie's room and screamed thinking there was a man in her room only to find out it was Callie, and she was so supportive. Callie at the fencing club was also entertaining. She goes to practice on sandbags only to unluckily get Ralston as a fencing partner. And the scene after he realizes its not a male but Callie. I loved it. And also the scene in the opera. That was too entertaining from the beginning. From Callie having to sit beside Ralston only to realize the main lead is his ex-mistress, to yelling at him in the hallway when he goes to see his mistress after receiving a note. She misunderstood why he was going to see her but her claws really came out. And that scene went from her yelling, to him kissing her to her almost slapping him. Like the drama really came but we love it. I think thats the scene when we start to see Ralston truly falling for her. I loved watching their relationship grow but I felt for them every time they had a misunderstanding. Ralston thinks the world of her so when he starts to compromise her and apologizes and mistakenly thinks he regrets their kisses (and more). I mean especially after the club scene, it was so clear when the misunderstanding happened but also Ralston was a little dumb. When he comes asking her to marry him, like its so clear he's in love with her but both of them don't realize it yet. I was so happy when she finally agreed to marry him but than stupid Oxford came and ruined that too. I loved seeing Ralston be super possessive and call him out for a duel. While I thinks its entirely stupid, it makes it entertaining. It was only made more entertaining when Callie goes to stop the duel, only to be the reason Ralston gets shot. I was so glad they were finally able to confess their feelings and finally end up together. I also loved how the epilogue came full circle and had them in the same gardens where they first met, I though that was a fun touch. Overall, this book is amazing and we love to see a heroine who breaks out of her shell and we also love to see a reformed rake. I have already reread this book and anticipate I will many more times in the years to come. Definitely a 5 🌟 read! ...more "
