You can't go wrong with a horror novel by Stephen King (my all-time favorite: It), Anne Rice, Whitley Strieber or some of the classics, like Frankenstein, Dracula, Carmilla or Rebecca. Or what about a Lovecraft or Poe book? Or a more recent novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, Mira Grant or Joe Hill? 📚 (I'm just beginning to realize that there are a lot more male than female horror fiction writers ... 🤔)
