Hi Lope,

Your English is better than my Spanish, so no problem!

Funny you should ask that because I was considering the possibility just the other day. I'd actually thought about it before, way back when I plotted The Five Elements, but the chance for Aaron to receive that kind of instruction never arose in that first book. However, the way things are left in the second book, Aaron and Ensel Rhe are in a situation where they're going to need to rely on each other more than ever before. Aaron, of course, has already had to lean on Ensel Rhe for his survival, but that was under violent circumstances, where the eslar does his best work. Now, they're in a situation where Aaron's skills can really shine. It's a place where Ensel Rhe is clearly out of his league, so he'll have to rely on Aaron to help his cause against his enemies.

However, back to your question: Yes, there is the possibility. Aaron lacks a certain physical prowess. He's a thinker. I don't think he'll ever become as good of a fighter as Ensel Rhe, Gerwyn, or even Jakinda Rhe, but he's a quick study and he has an unparalleled will. He's once more in a situation where physical action may be needed, so it's to his benefit to learn how to defend himself, if nothing else.

I hope that answers your question! Thanks for asking it and stay tuned for book 3.

I’ve been taking some time off writing but things are finally settling down for me so I hope to get back to that series and The Alchemancer too very soon.

2023-07-15 Update: I am *finally* releasing book two in the Assassin Without a Name series. It's called The Assassin's Cunning, and it comes out this Tuesday, 7/18!

Here's the Goodreads link:

This one has been a long time coming, but I'm really happy with how the book turned out and can't wait to get moving on book three. Please check it out and let me know what you think!(less)

Elemental Unification Gets a New Release Date

Earlier this year, when I reviewed my 2025 publishing goals, I decided to put Elemental Unification aside so I could focus on The Assassin's Skill. This was purely a business decision--most of my readers prefer the Assassin Without a Name series. Also, since most of my income from the previous year came from that series, it was a pretty easy decision. But The Assassin's Skill is now released,

Scott Marlowe Quick writing update: Thief's Gambit should be back from my last proofreader today, so well ahead of the 3/10/15 release date. Meanwhile, I finished outlining the next story in the series the other day and started the writing this morning. Not sure on length at this point. Even with an outline, these things can take on a life of their own.
