And the answer is yes! Book 4 (focused on Laz) will be out in May (preorders next month if I can get the cover done!), and I'm hoping that book 5 (finishing up the Sam/Ulysses arc) will be out by the end of 2025. I've written several other books in the series about other characters, but I don't have an exact publication timeline. I'm hoping that altogether there will be nine books, and possibly one collecting short stuff (like "Dous") if I manage to write enough short stuff to make a book.(less)

Of course olives are green--actually, I think olives come in a lot of colors depending on ripeness and variety (and how much evil is in them, I assume; I don't really like olives). In English, "olive skin" is a way of describing people who have tan or brown skin with a sort of greenish undertone to it--that is, people who look like their ancestors lived in the Mediterranean, southern Europe, Northern Africa, and a few other regions.

Sam looks like that in part because, as you note, he's also Dionysus, who is Greek. He also looks like that because the Greeks thought of Dionysus as a god who had come to Greece from somewhere else, although archeological evidence suggests he's actually from Greece and had been there for a long time. Similarly, to the average Wisconsinite, Sam will look vaguely foreign, although his family has lived in Wisconsin for a long time.(less)

June 2026: An Invincible Summer

Epilogue comes from the Greek “epi” meaning “in addition,” and “logos,” meaning “word.” Related to the calque “afterword” but not, in my opinion, identical; an epilogue is part of a fiction manuscript and continues the story, while an afterword allows the author a chance to have a word after the book has finished. My fellow author Felicia Davin already talked about epilogues within recent memory,

“Eli shook his head. "When we first met, I thought you two were respectable."

"Really?" Sam sounded excited.

Ulysses didn't look over at them, even though he must have been working by feel in the dim light. "I knew taking this job was a mistake," he grumbled. "People hear you're a professor, that's the first thing they assume.”

“Laz nodded. "Whip a shitty and I'll show you the buyer's place."

Eli stared in mute incomprehension. After a moment, he cleared his throat. "I beg your pardon?"

"Make a U-turn." Laz tilted his head.

Eli finally put the car in gear. "What was that majestic piece of Midwestern vernacular? Whip a shitty?"

Laz rolled his eyes.”

“I can either be your doctor or your boyfriend," Eli said. "And if I have to choose, I don't want to be your doctor.”

“Eventually, he said, "I still don't entirely understand why you would, but I'm yours, if you want me. I have been for a while." He shut his eyes when he said it, and hoped Eli understood what he meant.

Eli curled up bonelessly against him, forehead on his shoulder, one leg draped over Laz's hips. "Wow," he said after a moment. "That was hardly self-deprecating at all. We'll make an optimist of you yet.”
