Pamela D. Lloyd was born in Chicago, Illinois, where her parents turned down an offer to sell her to a sock salesman for his entire inventory of two suitcases of socks. When she was two months old, her family moved to Lake City, Florida, where her parents once more turned down an offer for her, this time in exchange for a house. Her parents have admitted that in selfishly refusing this offer they were aware that they would not be able to provide her with the life of luxury the prospective buyers claimed would be her new lot in life. For some strange reason, Pamela finds the first offer the more intriguing of the two; among her writing projects is a story about the child the sock salesman eventually purchased.
