Jodi Taylor is, and always has been, a complete history nut. It takes vast amounts of chocolate to get her out of bed for anything after 1485. And if it's raining, there's no chance.

Habitually tongue-tied when asked to talk about herself, she gets round this by describing herself as tall, incredibly beautiful, witty and technically proficient.

In What Could Possibly Go Wrong, a character asks if confirming the crucifixion actually took place would be more or less catastrophic than proving it didn't. In my first book I had Dr Bairstow saying there are places to which they would not go - Jerusalem during certain periods, Mecca, Medina, Bethlehem and so on. The conversation was edited out in the interests of keeping the word count down, but it's a self-imposed rule I intend to abide by.

I'm also trying to minimise the risk of inadvertent paradox by not allowing them to jump back to any period less than one hundred years in the past, so as to minimise the risk of killing a grandparent. And also because I don't regard anything in the last hundred years or so as actual History. I always think if it's that recent then it's a memory, rather than History.

Sorry, I've bored on for rather longer than I intended. Hope this answers your questions.(less)

There's a short story coming along in the summer and another one at Christmas. I'm working on Book 8 at the moment which should be out around May/June of next year and I've also got an outline for Book 9, as well.
I have started a sequel to The Nothing Girl, but it's slow going because I have to keep putting it aside to pick up the St Mary's stories again. And I do have some ideas for another Regency romance. My problem is that there just aren't enough hours in the day!!
Hope this answers your query. Thanks for writing. Jodi.(less)

Cardiff Comic Con

Hi

I'm going to Comic Con - which was something I thought only ever happened in The Big Bang Theory. For anyone who happens to be in the Cardiff area, do drop by. I shall be signing books and chatting with anyone who doesn't have the energy to escape.

It's being held on 24th & 25th October 2015 at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.

At no little personal risk, I'm going to have a bash at adding the lin Read more of this blog post »

Jodi Taylor answered Yvonne's question: Jodi Taylor
I remember reading the Lymond stories. They're great, aren't they? I think I read them one after the other. If there are a couple of homages in my books then they're inadvertent. I tried 'King Hereafter' but didn't like it so much.
