Two nominations I put in where winners Gone Girl and Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail

The other books that I have read and didn't win doesn't surprise me. They were good, but they weren't amazing in the way The Fault in Our Stars was.

I haven't read any of the winners, so I can't really put my 2 cent in, haha.

I thought they all deserved to win. I already had Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking on my TBR and will probably need to add The Long Earth and The Wind Through the Keyhole.

This happened to me on Amazon when I gave a guy two stars because his book was littered with grammatical errors. He left an amazingly nice comment on the review thanking me for reading his book, saying my review will make him a better author, and adding that he's from Michigan too. I thought this was AMAZING. All the stories I hear of authors commenting on negative reviews are so bad--I was relieved to be an exception to the rule. I'm curious about what experience others have had.

I have had several authors like my reviews but not respond.
I have a pet peeve about Goodreads. I don't know about any of you, but there are a ton of free e-books you can download from Goodreads. I get all excited when I find one I want to read. I download it and it's in a foreign language...really?? I can't read Arabic or whatever that language is. :( Why not offer different languages of the book?

I'm excited, too! I went to the used bookstore today and bought some of the books I needed. They were cheap and classics, so why not? Haha, Christmas present to myself!

Does anyone else know about Duck Dynasty?? My friends said I was behind, lol.

Last night we were skimming through the channels and came upon "Amish Mafia" on Discovery. OMG the stupidest show ever! SO lame it made me laugh. The guy who runs this supposed mafia has his office in a barn...Seriously lay of the Godfather movies for awhile.

I feel like I need to say this today. I love this group and it's members so much. We have never met, but I feel like you are my friends, and you are wonderful people to come to, to just get away from reality for a while. Today is a very sad say in the United States. There is so much evil. So much innocence was taken away from this country today as we know of 18 little children (ages 4-10) have lost their lives in a school shooting. At least 9 faculty members have also lost their lives.
Don't take anything for granted. Give your friends and family some extra special love today and always. Love you all and happy reading today.

Well said Ashley...I concur

My brother is a pilot and has been listening to Chicago's air traffic control and flights are going still, so it has been interesting to learn and listen. They are prepping really well, so hopefully you can all make your flights for the holidays!

On one thought, I hope everyone travels safe and make it to their destinations!!

My road was just plowed this morning...and I live in a suburb of Dsm, by an elementary school. It is so icy and crazy!

Adriana: it's great so far. We have some friends in town, so they're showing us around. Then tomorrow, we'll Amtrak over to a suburb of Dallas to see my boyfriend's family for Christmas.

haha! Did you live yesterday like your last, as I did? ;) Now to deal with the consequences... lol

By the way, I think I'm counting this as my favorite group on Goodreads cuz it's all about book challenges!"
That's great to hear Book! This is definitely my favorite group too. :D

I think I love this group the best so far. At least I seem to spend a lot of time in this group compared with many of my other groups.

Same here. I love this group!

What's the name of Erin's group? My interest has been piqued.

How's everyone feeling about their 2012 challenges? Four days to go!
I have seven more books to read, so I'm pretty sure I won't make it. On the OTHER hand, I don't need to work for the rest of the year, so there is hope.

Finishing six books in three days isn't feasible when there's so much I want to do before the New Year. Oh well. I am, however, still optimistic that I can finish my challenges. I just need to read The Girl Who Ate Kalamazoo (This Is Your Life), The Summer Book (I Spy), and The House of the Spirits (Listopia and Around the World).
(On the other hand, written out like that, it DOES sound pretty daunting.)

Do you agree? Which have you read? Did you add any to your TBR with the announcement?
