Agreed Lori, haha. I hate that I can't hear how people want things said. Glad I didn't offend you Bonnie :)

Maybe. Or we could just hope for the best and assume that no one would really be that insulting to someone they don't know overly well.
yeah..let's just keep this one open for questions about the challenge..and to post what you just finished...if people want to..that way the other thread won't be cluttered with questions and stuff. just our lists.
1)For Valentines Day: read a book with the word heart or love in it. PS. I Love You
For 5 Points
Total: 10points
OK, this might sound like a stupid question, but for those that say, "Such and such months is ___________, so read a book that ________." Do we have to read the book during that month? Or can I read a book about love later on? It's not a big deal, but I should probably get on it if we're limited to the month.
I posted my list in the other section...
Linda, above the text box is a link labeled "add book/author" Just click on that and you can search and then add the link.
when this is over i think itd be fun to tally up which books pop up the most often (such as dorian gray and ps i love you). maybe ill work on that later instead of doing real work.
Did a PS I Love You-athon./swoon.
May I just say that the men in that movie are super sexy? And the book is just so sweet.
some friends and I made plans last night to watch PS I Love You and 300 tonight! I looove PS I Love You but have not seen 300
just finished The Virgin Suicides for 10 points giving me 40 points overall. It was AMAZING yall!!!!
Hi! This challenge looks like a lot of fun! I hope it isn't too late to start. I was wondering what the CS group read is. Can anyone give me an example? Thanks,
Summer
Nevermind on the last question. I guess I blanked out and couldn't connect the dots CS College Students duh! Anyway, just forget it. :)
Not at all Kathryn! We started a new thread called the "New Official 2009 School Year Challenge" where we do one post of the books we're going to read and then update our list as we finish books and/or change our minds. This thread still exists to announce what we've finished and ask questions. You'll find the list of categories on the first page of this thread. So, figure out what books you want to read and make a post on the other thread. If you don't have all of them figured out yet, that's fine, just leave blanks.
Welcome to the challenge.
linda: i love a wrinkle in time! its definitely my favorite book :) i didnt know it was challenged/ban book
a wrinkle in time is my favorite book too!also, i changed my book about a woman to The Road of Lost Innocence The True Story of a Cambodian Heroine if that's okay. and i finished it :)

I found it on the list. I had never read it, but always wanted to. I enjoyed the book very much.. :)

Could I read The Snows of Kilimanjaro and Other Stories for the read a book with a location in the title? It's not exactly a city, country, or state...but it is a place...
Finished Eragon for 15 points as my book from an author that was born/or had lived in your state/geographical area- California (challenge #2).
I think I'm going to change my book about another religion to Emotional Awareness Overcoming the Obstacles to Psychological Balance and Compassion by the Dalai Lama... is that okay?
Haha, you know Lori I almost replied to your post saying that I didn't think there was a problem with it, but then I thought maybe I shouldn't reply since I'm not a moderator. But I'd say yours is fine. :)
Lynn, I totally loved French By Heart! I got an advanced copy of it from work a couple years back and loved it! I've never actually met another person who has read it until you! =)
This is not to be taken in a mean way, but is there another moderator aside from Jamie? (I was thinking that there was) I know Jamie's really busy with her job. It would be nice if there was another moderator who wasn't so busy that could answer these questions more quickly because since some people might be on a time budget regarding their choices.
I loved it too, Kelsey! I always thought French people were rude but I learned a lot about how the French think thanks to Madame Mallet!
Oh, Madame Mallet! I disliked her so much at the beginning, but I'm pretty sure I loved her at the end. Lori and Tahleen: I think both of your choices are fine. I think that Ashley is the other moderator. Regarding Jamie, if I remember right, she's on some sort of vacation right now, so Ashley is taking care of things.
oh yes that Madame Mallet.. I don't know when I started liking her, but damn it I did. haha. She grows on you.Do yall think the Reader would count as "the college student as the main character"? When it starts off he's 15, but then he's a law student. idk. I'm about to finish it I can't find any other way to fit it into the challenge
Lynn, if that does count, I'm using it for that one too. Also, I finished The Graveyard Book the other day for 15 points!
Even though it's March, is it still too late to join in? I'm realizing I've met some of these requirements.
Lynn, I say go for it too! He's a main character and he's in college at some point...Liz: It's not too late to join in, but we started in January, so only include the books you've read since January. =)
Finished The Reader for 15 points, giving me 80 points overall. It was such a quick read and pretty good. Definitely a thought provoker.I chose to study Dorothy Day for my spirituality class (she intrigues me so much!!) so now I'm going to be working on reading her autobio The Long Loneliness for class and also for the challenge. I'm excited!
Question: Can I count Alexander McCall Smith for 10 Points, #10 (read a book written by someone of your same heritage (i.e. Belgian, Swiss, whatever))? I'm of Scottish ancestry and even though he was born in Zimbabwe, his parents were Scottish. I assume that means he counts as Scottish, right?
Okay, changed my #2 in the 15-pointer range (author that lived/was born in/etc your geographical area) to Models Don't Eat Chocolate Cookies. She lives in Boston. And I finished it today! :) It's so good.
