Audrey (godsmissiongal) I finished The Obsessive Compulsive Trap by Dr. Mark Crawford, #5 for 10 points.
For a total so far of 15 points.
I read most of it yesterday and finished the last 50 so pages today. It was a good look at OCD and its sister disorders, their treatment and how they not only affect the people that have the disorder but also their family and friends. I highly recommend this book to anyone that might have OCD or knows someone that does. It is written from a Christian Psychologist's perspective. Very Good!! 5 Stars and 164 pages.

Lori Walker OK. I just tried to do the strike-through html formatting and it crossed off everything after that book as well. How do I get it to just cross off that book?

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
and i believe someone asked if a play was fine..yes thats fine!

message 178: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) To make it easier, Jamie, you could create a new topic "2009 Challenge" where each person has one post. Everyone could just edit their own post as they went along to reflect their current total points. That way, you wouldn't have to scroll down forever to see who is at what. Just an idea. =)

message 179: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
hmm that is a pretty good idea lol..would def. be easier for me. Then once a week or so i could just update the leader board thing by looking at everyone's totals. Good thinking Kelsey!!

message 180: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
would it be confusing for everyone else if we did it the way kelsey suggested? just let me know..if i mean it's not the end of the world if i keep doing it like this..i mean..it was my own fault because i waited like a week to update it. i'm using excel spreadsheets and stuff so i'm not scrolling too much. whatever way is easier for everybody else..

message 181: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments i think what kelsey suggested sounds great! =)

message 182: by Laura (new)

Laura (liacobet) Laura I. finished Uglies for 5 points!

Total:
5 pts

Ah, i'm slacking so much lol.

message 183: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker It sounds like a good idea to me. Do you mean we publish our lists and then do the cross out html as we go? Or just put up the numbers and then fill in the title as we read them?

message 184: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) I guess either one would work fine. I'd just publish my list and cross stuff out as I go, but whatever works...

message 185: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments that's what ive been doing.. my list is on the first page and i just cross them out as i go

message 186: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Yeah! I like this idea. I also like seeing my titles crossed out as I finish my books... haha. And this sounds much simpler.

message 187: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I guess we should let Jamie make the thread so she can have editing privileges.

message 188: by Justine (new)

Justine (paperbackheart) Finished The Gargoyle for 10 points.

I like the idea of having a new post with just the lists.

message 189: by Audrey (new)

Audrey (godsmissiongal) I Finished Where The Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein for #10 for 5 points for a total of 40 Points.

message 190: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
Justine-
Did you like The Gargoyle?

message 191: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) I just finished Game of Thrones for 25 points and What is the What for 15 points. Both were great books!

message 192: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Kelsey, I just wanted to let you know what Jamie made a different thread for the challenge where we post our list once and then edit by crossing out titles as we get done with them. If you look for it, I'm sure you'll find it and it explains what to do much better than I am.

message 193: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Oh I know. I was the one who came up with the idea for a different thread. I just forgot and was commenting on the books. I probably should have posted under "what you're currently reading". Thanks for letting me know though! =)

message 194: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Kelsey, Sorry. I didn't mean to sound like I jerk. I just didn't know who all didn't find out about the new thing.

message 195: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Haha not at all! You're no jerk, and it's quite alright. You were just trying to be helpful. =)

message 196: by Bonnie (last edited Feb 12, 2009 06:20PM) (new)

Bonnie | 20 comments Bonnie, isn't The Dante Club set in New England?

Oye, you're totally right! Thank you for pointing that out! I got it confused with another book. I'm deciding my reading based on another challenge and then every week or so seeing how what I've read fits into this challenge. When I come back this weekend from my trip I'll change that and update my total accordingly (and will be careful that the new books I add actually fit!).

Also, I know that there is the new thread for showing our points by crossing books out each time we finish a task, but can people still post what task they just finish here (if they want)? I really like seeing what people read for what challenge task and I'm not observant enough to figure out which task just got crossed off another person's list. Plus, no one would've probably caught my mistake if I had just crossed it off my list.

message 197: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen No problem! I am also sorry if I sounded like a jerk, I was just confused haha. Glad to have helped (if I did indeed help).

message 198: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie | 20 comments Oh, you didn't sound like a jerk at all! I was being an idiot. And I'm glad that someone pointed it out now, because it would be worse if I finished and then somebody noticed!

message 199: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I love how we're apologizing for being jerks. It's unfortunate that the internet can't convey facial expressions and tones of voice...

message 200: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Haha I was worried about sounding like a jerk too. "I hope this doesn't come across badly..."
