So, I was convinced by a member of the darkfuse forums to give Carlton Mellick III another chance after not being able to get through Apeshit. I am currently reading The Cannibals of Candyland and it is pretty good. Think willy wonka having a bad trip.

message 254: by Mia (new)

Mia | 5 comments Currently reading The Nosferatu Scroll by James Becker and Sign of the Cross by Chris Kuzneski. My first Becker book, but seems quite jolly so far...and Kuzneski tried and tested continuation of reading of his books :)

Char I finished The Pilo Family Circus last night. It. Was. Awesome. I just loved it!
I'm on to Disturbwith my group.

message 256: by William (new)

William (wmcc) Pilo got my vote for the group read.Doesn't look like it's going to win though.I just finished Eerie and really enjoyed it.I don't think I've read anything by Blake Crouch i haven't liked.

Justin (justineaton) | 3492 comments Mod
I will be reading pilo wether or not it wins I voted on terror because I thought it had a better chance at winning and also because it is so long that it will be a good one to spread out over an entire month. If pilo looks like it may win I might change my vote though and if not we can do a buddy read if you want.

message 258: by Addy (new)

Addy | 1944 comments Thanks Charlene. I'm gonna grab it.

message 259: by William (new)

William (wmcc) Justin,i had a hard job deciding which one to vote for this month the choice was so good.I nominated two books and didn't even vote for them.I've heard so many good things about Pilo I've just gotta read it.LOL!! I'll definitely be in for the buddy read if it doesn't win.

message 260: by Char (new)

Char I was not at all impressed with Mr. Konrath's Disturb. It was a medical thriller. It was decent but not great.
I started Come Closer which is a demon posession type story. It's so good I read half of it last night.

I havnt read that one but I read origin and didnt really think it was all that great either. I think there is a reason he could t sell those first 3 books.

I feel the same way, there isnt a single book on the list that I didnt already have on my tbr. I would be willing to do a buddy read on any of them or suggest them next month.

I am reading Skull Moon and A Baumgartner Reunion and also Darkly Dreaming Dexter

Last night at work I was reading a chapter or two of each book as I rotated through them all night.

message 267: by Addy (new)

Addy | 1944 comments Oh god. I just finished reading The Good Girls, which was very well written, especially the descriptions. So much so that it left me feeling nauseous and made my stomach do flip flops...not for the squeamish....ending was a bit disappointing.

Matt McRoberts (nemesis0) | 404 comments Started reading THE ATLAS FRACTURE by Tim Queeney today at work. I got an early copy of it from the author because i read and reviewed the first book in the series The SHIVA Compression a while ago. So i get to read it early and also maybe try and help them find any errors in it before he releases it officially.

It's not up on here yet so i can't list it on my account as reading it.

I decided to skip out on The Girl Next Door for now, im not sure I can handle it. I am still working on the terror, Baumgartner generation, and a few short stories here and there from necro files, but I also plan on starting population zero by wrath james white tonight for my buddy read with addy.

I forgot about the ritual, its funny how a book can be at the top of my list and im so anxious to read it I just want to drop everything and start it. but of.course I dont and.by the time I finish what I am reading I have completly forgoten about that book this is what happened with the ritual. it is now back up towards the top of my list.

message 273: by William (new)

William (wmcc) The Ritual's a great one Justin.I think you'd really like it.

message 274: by Char (new)

Char I'm reading Joe McKinney's Inheritance. It's nominated for a Stoker this year.

message 275: by William (new)

William (wmcc) I just started Survivor.I've heard it's pretty extreme,so I'll see if I'm up to it.

message 278: by Addy (new)

Addy | 1944 comments I'm still reading some from months ago. But I'm pretty eager to start The Girl Down the Lane.

Cindy William wrote: "I just started Survivor.I've heard it's pretty extreme,so I'll see if I'm up to it."

Good luck!! It is very rough, but I still thought it was a very good book!

message 280: by William (new)

William (wmcc) Thanks Cindy. It's definitely a rough read with a lot of cringing and head shaking in disbelief, but it's a great story and i can't wait to see how it ends.

Justin, being a big Ed Lee fan i'm sure you'll love it.

message 281: by Char (new)

Char I finished Inheritance by Joe McKinney and I thought it was very good.
I am currently reading House of Dead Trees by Rod Redux. I'm about halfway through and it's pretty good. Lots of nods to Hill House.

William (wmcc) I've been working my way through my old leisure paperbacks.I just finished the excellent Survivornow onto Ghost Walk.

message 285: by Addy (new)

Addy | 1944 comments I'm reading a bunch of samples to see what I want to buy for April. Mal Contents's Howler is really good. I love Randy Chandler. Beyond the Door also looks like a good read thanks to Charlene:) The Dark is another sample in reading through.

message 286: by Char (last edited Mar 27, 2013 01:37PM) (new)

Char Beyond the Door was awesome, but it's relatively short-novella length. Just so you know. :)

I'm reading After: The Shock by Scott Nicholson. It's decent so far.

message 287: by Addy (new)

Addy | 1944 comments Yeah I know. Just looking into some short story types, so I can catch up on some other stuff. I've never actually read books that included several authors and different stories(what is that called anyway?)since grade school. Its refreshing.

I thought Survivor was really good!! And very disturbing.

message 289: by Char (new)

Char I think they call that an anthology. It takes me forever to get through one of those because I only read them in between bigger reads.

Agreed. There are a couple of seriously shocking parts in this book.I think if done right it would make a great movie.

I'm the same way, with short story collections period, even if they are all from the same author. Though I did read King's Full Dark, No Stars all the way through, but I was also taking care of my girlfriend (Who is now my wife) because she had seriously hurt her ankle and needed help doing just about everything.

I still need to read more of Shivers VI from Cemetery Dance and Brian Keene's A Conspiracy of One from Thunderstorms Maelstrom line of collectible books.

message 293: by Scott (new)

Scott (ttownscott) I'm reading Titanic 2012 based on the movie Titanic. About 25% through. It's OK, will have to see how it goes. I'm also working my way slowly through a Lovecraft anthology.

both great books Kate, enjoy!

Robert Krone | 157 comments Going to start on Thirty Miles South Of Dry County today.

Also purchased The Walls of the Castle earlier in eBook format. 100% of eBook proceeds go to Tom and his family to help with the costs of recent brain surgery. 20% from the physical books go to him as well, but didn't want to wait on the signed paperback, lol

im reading I'm Not Sam and Thoughtless

message 298: by Addy (new)

Addy | 1944 comments I'm Not Sam sounds good. Are they making that into a movie? I thought I read something about it.

message 299: by Robert Krone (new)

Robert Krone | 157 comments I'm Not Sam is an excellent novella, as is the short story that was included with it. Of all the horror books I've read lately, that one is the closest to true horror in my mind in that it made me really think about what I would do, and pray I never have to worry about it. I think that if I were not married the book would have still be very good, but would not have had the impact that it did for me. This was definitely not like other Ketchum books I've read. While the others may have some violence and stuff like that, this one was more scary in that it deals with something that is actually possible (Not very likely to ever happen though, thankfully).

I may beg for a loaner on Ketchum's novella if you have the Kindle edition. His last one with Lucky McGee was excellent, The Woman, but I had to hit up my library for a paper copy at the time. Great film too btw.
