Anita (anitanodiva) | 1619 comments I received The Scam The Scam (Fox and O'Hare, #4) by Janet Evanovich by Janet Evanovich as an ARC. It is a great book about a con that doesn't go as planned.

Nancy (gr-nancy-a) | 799 comments Loved Steamed by Holly Jacobs. It is an ebook in the Love is A Mystery collection. Very funny & moves along nicely.
There are 3 more in this series so I will look for them next.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I am finishing an anthology called Edge of Darkness2. All the stories are about vampires. I would give 2 of the stories about a 3, the first story was by Christine Feehan and I loved it. I am also rereading Calculated in Death / Thankless in Death 2-in-1 Collection by J.D. Robb

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I'm continuing the Mangrove Island series by Neve Cottrell

Heart of the Home Heart of the Home (A Mangrove Island Novel Book 4) by Neve Cottrell

It's kind of like Bella Andre's Gansett Island series where the characters are a mix of locals and people who come to the Island for business or vacation, etc. This island is off the coast of FL and has no cars on it, so that's an interesting twist.

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I'm burned out by writers who haven't given me any more than a 3 star experience, so I've gone back to some superb books by a fantastic writer, Virginia Kantra. If you've not read any of hers, please put her on your "to consider" list. She's never failed to give me a 4 or 5 star reading experience. What I've re-read this week while sick at home is

The Passion of Patrick MacNeill The Passion of Patrick MacNeill (Sweet Home, Carolina, #2; MacNeill Brothers, #1) by Virginia Kantra

The Comeback of Conn MacNeill The Comeback of Conn MacNeill (Sweet Home, Carolina, #3; MacNeill Brothers, #2) by Virginia Kantra

The Temptation of Sean MacNeill The Temptation of Sean MacNeill (Sweet Home, Carolina, #4; MacNeill Brothers, #3) by Virginia Kantra

Mad Dog and Annie Mad Dog and Annie (Sweet Home, Carolina, #5; MacNeill Brothers, #4) by Virginia Kantra

I know what you mean when it seems like you've hit a stream of mediocre books. Thanks for the author recommendation.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I have never heard of Virginia Kantra. Is there any book that I should start with, Janeiowa?

message 1112: by Janeiowa (new)

Janeiowa | 5009 comments The Reforming of Matthew Dunn is her first one, and not part of any series. Her MacNeill brothers series starts with the Passion of Patrick MacNeill. Her Dare Island series begins with Carolina Home.

I like to read a series in order so I have the background on reoccurring characters.

Usually, she writes who done its, but this is about ghosts, and the other worlds. I don't know if I will read the next book in the series.

Janeiowa | 5009 comments I've been in a reading slump...trying to get through too many "drafts" masquerading as finished novels by "authors" who haven't bothered to do the tough work of editing, editing, editing.

So...I have been re-reading a series I enjoyed the first time through. #1 in this series is

Just This Once Just This Once (Escape to New Zealand, #1) by Rosalind James

In addition, in real life ...the All Blacks have just won the Rugby Championship ...again...and that's what Escape to New Zealand is about....rugby layers.

I'm loving again Rosalind James' wonderful writing. I'm now on #5

Brown-eyed Girl was my first Lisa Kleypas book and was definitely not a good introduction to the author. Can't imagine a $12.99 price tag - I borrowed from my library...

I know she's better known and loved for her historicals, but I'm not much for historicals.
