Haha, if this was facebook, I would have liked the heck out of that statement.

But I don't think Adrian can stay mad at Sydney for long eighter, with him having the urge to come to her 'rescue' all the time. It's a match made in heaven hehe

V I agree, Sandra, they're made for each other!

Sandra Interesting thought. But if witch blood is like Sydney's, what would the strigoi be getting out if the deal?
Maybe it's more like Highlander: There can only be one (evil witch to rule you all)!

Hurry up Christmas! Then we only have to wait one month!

I agree with you that the law Tatiana passed was terrible and she was being cowardly. When I read that it angered me and by making such a decision sealed her fate to be removed as queen.

However, Tasha killed her and then framed Rose for it! Rose was going to be executed and the only reason she wasn't is because she is bad ass herself and has badass friends who helped her escape and helped her learn the truth. Which in my view makes her just as bad as the queen she killed. If she does come into the Bloodlines Series I hope it is so Rose can punish her personally!

JJ Julianna wrote: "No! Sydney needs a human, as bad as that sounds, it's true. I would hate Richelle Mead forever if she made Sydney give up her beliefs or be punished/re-educated because of Adrian."

Sydney is a witch, whether she likes it or not so she has to cope with magic and accept it which in turn will help her accept vampires. And she has been questioning her believes since he met Rose, I bet even living with Dimitri's family for that short while made her think of dhamphirs in new light. I'm thinking that with her magic and brains combined with Trey's physical skills they can create a different branch of Alchemists that can be side by side with moroi and dhamphirs. That's a little besides the topic, but Sydney is going to end up with Adrian, it's just a matter of when and how.

JJ Baylor wrote: "Why do people hate Rose???????????????"

Because towards the end of the books she used characters who blindly believed in her to rescue her rouge ex-boyfriend in a practical suicidal way and royally screwing everyone

SYDNEY - faced posible re-education
EDDY - killed royal moroi and faced capital punishment
MIA - unknown punishment
CHRISTIAN - got his aunt (and only family) to rightfully take her place in jail
JILL - literally died as a result of Rose's way of solving Lissa's problems
ADRIAN - used his money and influences then dumped him and indirectly got his mom in jail while he mourned for his dead aunt

I think that pretty much sums it up. That said I don't hate Rose, in fact she is one of the few characters that I like but she's not perfect.

PS she's also indirectly responsible for Mason's death

Rose was the perfect person to frame tho. Her public outbursts at the queen made her very unpopular. She made herself the perfect scapegoat. If anyone was going to be framed for the queens murder it was her.

P.S. JJ, I agree...except about the 'liking' Rose part.

MORE SYDRIAN MOMENTS!!!

Cortney JJ wrote: "Baylor wrote: "Why do people hate Rose???????????????"

SYDNEY: What happened to Sydney was because she made a deal with Abe. She would've had to do some other equally illegal.
EDDIE: What he did was to protect Lissa. And Tosha was the one who sent that moroi to attact Lissa. Although she did get him in trouble with the whole breaking-a-criminal-out-of-prison-thing. It did screw up his career up a bit.
MIA: She didn't really do anything illegal for Rose.
CHRISTIAN: His Aunt diserved to be in jail. But I do feel sorry for him.
Jill: Rose didn't just find Jill to solve Lissa's problems, she did it to solve the moroi world's problems. Now Lissa can fix them and soon Jill will be safe. Besides Jill deserves a chance to know about her family.
ADRIAN: Okay she totally screwed him over. He did not deserve that. She should've kept her knees shut until she broke up with Adrian. Instead she cheated on him and then used him. She totally didn't believe in him either. She thought that if she broke up with Adrian that he wouldn't help her. He totally would! He's not a selfish jackass like everyone thinks he is. And there really was no way to throw Adrian's mom into prison. All she did was try to protect her child. Now Adrian has to suffer for that.

And also, to people who want Tosha to come back, she is dead. It's been months since she was accused of killing the queen. Rose was going to die weeks after. Also she has nothing to do with Jill. She wants Lissa to be queen.

And to people who still like Tosha. She is a murderer! She thought she could control Lissa if she became queen. And she set up Rose to DIE in her place because Dimitri loved Rose.
I still love Rose. She just makes A LOT of mistakes.

I think you mean Tasha and it was never said that she was dead and I seriously doubt that Lissa was order the death of her boyfriends aunt.

My guess is that she is locked away in Tarasov, which we all know is the weakest prison on Earth since a bunch of teenagers were able to break into it and free a prisoner (Victor Dashkov).

It's a shame really because RM could have made that part really really intresting. Some mission impossible craziness would have been great. Instead Lissa just used compulsion to get them into a prision with no security camera (really?). The Alchimist bunker at the beginning of TGL had more security than that entire prision.

If Sydney gets sent to a re-education center, I hope it's more of a challenge to break her out than it was Victor. Maybe RM should watch a few episodes of Prison Break or something. :P

Personally, if she does get sent down I would recommend Adrian using the 'Bane' tactic from TDKR. Steal a big freaking tank and blast your way in! :D

message 214: by Sandra (last edited Sep 05, 2012 11:45PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sandra I'm rooting for all the team to bust her out! Just the Bloodlines team, Adrian, Eddy, Angeline and Jill. If Abe would join in it would be heaven, haha, since he could obviously outsmart every one in staging a prison break.

And yeah, it took more to break into the Bunker.
Then again, the prison was in daylight and they honestly didn't think anyone would break out lol. (Let alone break in, obviously)

But we don't know how powerfull Sydney by herself is going to be at that point. She is still using amulets and objects, but if I read closely between the lines, the more powerfull she becomes, the less objects are needed and it all depends on willpower.
So maybe the team breaks in while she breaks out and they meet somewhere in the middle all surprised and confused hehe.

I would love to see Sydney all powerfull and in control of her own destiny :)

message 215: by Katie (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katie I absolutely adore Adrian and I would love for him and Sydney to get together because she needs him to help her break out of the constricting Alchemists. They are too controlling and are definitely more terrifying than the Strigoi, simply because they are human and know exactly what they are doing. Sydney needs to learn that Moroi are not unnatural but just another species out there. Also Adrian is hilarious and his crazy little ways really contrast Sydney's strict little world.

message 216: by Sandra (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sandra That's why they are perfect together - even if they are just friends ;)

message 217: by Katie (new) - rated it 5 stars

Katie That's a good point, even if they don't get together, they should definitely stay friends ;-)

message 218: by Sandra (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sandra Hmm, I wonder what they use to guard her with then. Maybe they will sedate the heck out of her... :( I would if I were them.

Lol, I like all the 'conspiracy theories' we all come up with haha. Makes waiting almost easier ;)

message 219: by Sandra (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sandra Hmm, I don't know about that. Would make more sense to have her sedated - that way Sydney would pose no threat at all. I think if her magic evolves she will 'destroy' what ever it is that holds her in her 'cel'...

Then again, having her sedated in a re-education centre makes no sense haha, because there will be no chance to brainwash her.

But what if she isn't all powerfull? And she does get taken. I would hate it if she would end up like Keith did, or worse (since she actually loves A vampire and befriended others). She would be seen as a threat to the Alchemists. One who betraid them all.

What if they won't get there in time to get her out and she ends up completely insane?

message 220: by Sandra (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sandra Yeah, but to actually have it happen, with the power she holds inside of her... She might become more dangerous then anyone can predict. She would lose controle and not be able to trust anyone anymore.

Hmm, then we would truely get to see how much Adrian loves her haha - He won't give up on her ;)

message 221: by Sandra (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sandra He can't help her with spirit.
I agree, it would drive him crazy if he tried. On the other hand - it would also drive him insane if he doesn't try. Providing he can get close enough to her, that is.
But maybe it isn't just Adrian that needs to solve this puzzle. There is also Marcus Finch, maybe he knows how to 'unbrainwash' her - him being an ex-alchemist who knows secrets and such.

I think it would take the whole team to get her to see reason again. She loves all of them, and they love her back :) Love might be powerful, but so is friendship.

Maybe Mrs. Terwilliger knows how to reach her aswell. I mean she would owe Sydney since she is in danger of getting hunted down by that baddass sister of hers haha. There's probably a spell to uncloud her judgement or vision lol

LOL, I'm sorry, I'm ranting away here.

Thank God that you said that because I was just gonna get all mad at JJ because most of those characters didn't get punished because of Rose.

Also, it would be so cool if Sydney could do magic w/out the use of a an amulet or something. And she would hopefully stand up for herself more...

Yea, that part got me confused because Lee couldn't use his magic, but Sonya can. Unless if the spirit user that turned Lee used some sort of advance spirit magic on Lee to prevent him from using his Moroi magic.

Or because Sonja is a spirit user she is still able to use her abilities. It's possible thaf she were a water user or something, she wouldn't be able to anymore.

Ruby Jo Things I'd change in this book. Well, first of all I'd add a few Rose and Rose&Dimitri scenes. Then I'd add a few scenes in 3rd person. I'd rather read books in 3rd person, and the VA series had those and made me get the full picture and see characters from different angles and all that.
Also, I hated that um...I forgot his name. The guy that worked at the cafeteria, that turned out to be part of the group that wanted to kill Sonya? Anyway, I hated that he turned out to be one of them. I'd have wanted him to be just a normal guy. Not Sydney's boyfriend, but a true friend to her.
Oh, forgot one last tinny, little detail. I'd love Lissa to become friends with Jill. I just don't get it. they got along fine before they found out they were sisters. And yes, I know it was shocking and that probably Lissa hates that her dad cheated on her mom and all that. But I see Jill as a link to someone Lissa lost. Instead of hating her or ignoring her for the sins of her father, I would've assumed Lissa would act more like a protector for Jill...
Anyway, that's all I can think of for the moment :P

message 232: by S.L.J. (new) - rated it 4 stars

S.L.J. It's either something that RM messed up with Lee's character or she did it on purpose because he's transformation back was different. He didn't even remember who turned him back and wanted to be a Strigoi again. Very different from Sonja and Dimitri.

We haven't met the 'mystery spirit user' yet so maybe when we do, it'll answer this question.

At least I hope it does. :P

message 233: by Sandra (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sandra What if it was a witch?
Sydney's blood is spiked with elemental Moroi magic, What if not only the four basic elements are in there but also the spirit one? Then theoretically a witch could also make the transformation, if she/he was powerfull enough.
A simple spell would then account for the loss of memory and maybe the loss of moroi power.

But I don't think we will meet this mystery person. Lee is gone and unless Mr. Donahue is raising any alarm bells, the case is closed.

message 234: by Clare (new) - rated it 4 stars

Clare I think she will end up with Adrian and I actually wanted to slap her for her reaction to his kiss, I think its gonna be her finding out that her beliefs are all tosh and she'll go in search of the rebel who left the alchemists, and she herself will eventually become a rebel against the cause she was brought up believing in, weather she will do it out of love for adrian or some other reason I dont know, but i'm sure the next few books will have us on the edge of our seats wondering what she'll do! Or at least thats what i hope for :)

message 235: by S.L.J. (last edited Sep 13, 2012 05:52PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

S.L.J. One thing that did kind of bother me during this book, and throughout VA is that we are constantly told about how amazing the guardians are, yet in TGL, when Sonja goes missing, they keep saying that she had a rental car.

90% of all rental car places have GPS inside their vehicles incase they are ever stolen. Not to mention GPS inside phones. Yet they never even thought about trying that. We're told that Guardians patrol the school very regularly and always check the wards, yet Jesse and his Mana group were able to torture Lissa and other students without them knowing? And how did nobody notice Rose and Lissa on the cameras inside Tarasov when they were breaking Victor out of prison.

I get that Lissa's powers can control a person but not a machine. The cameras wouldn't have been affected by Spirit.

And Dimitri who is apprently 'always on guard and always ready' thought that Sonja had been gardening for 12 hours straight? really?

The guardians really arent living up to their reputations so far.

I want Sydney to shine in this series and all her new friends too.
The only guardian I truely like is Eddie. He needs to shine more too, with all he's been through :) Hoping he can get into some action during TIS, maybe save Adrian and Sydney from certain danger.

Can't believe it's still 5 more months of waiting!

message 238: by Keren (last edited Sep 15, 2012 03:29PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Keren I wouldn't want Rose to be a part of the series. Not because I don't love her, I do. It's just that her story is over and so is Dimitri's, it's Sydney and Adrian's time. Also, Dimitri's badassness, in my opinion, has a lot to do with Rose's feelings for him. Everything he did seemed greater and more amazing because she loves him. He's still incredible, but I think one of the reasons he didn't seem quite as kick-ass in TGL is because Rose wasn't the one telling us about him.
And OF COURSE Sydney should end up with Adrian! They are perfect for each other, and she won't be giving up her beliefs because her beliefs are mistaken. She was taught to be racist and Adrian is showing her how wrong that is.

I thought that was Victor Dashkov's brother. He did say he cured someone who was a strigoi.

Raphaella I think in Indigo Spell Sydney should kiss Adrian. Not actually start a relationship because she still has a lot to wade through, like I said before she can't just toss her beliefs out of the window, and afterwards she'd go apologizing and saying she doesn't mean to toy with him and she wasn't thinking. And that's exactly the point, he'd know that she likes him back and that when she turns her brain off a bit she wants him just as much. He deserves to know that it's worth it to keep fighting for her and not just another huge waste of time and unnecessary heartbreak. Also, it could come after a fight because I love belligerent love tension.

S.L.J. I was really hoping that Adrian would compel Dimitri to shove poision oak down his pants or shave his eye brows off or something. Somekind of prank would have been funny and Adrian deserves a little payback. :P

Raphaella February just seems so far away, picturing what might happen is a way ease the pain while I am jonesing. I think Sydney and Adrian should get a chance to save themselves from whatever trouble they are in, either doing it all by themselves or orchestrating the whole thing. I mean, Sydney is gonna be a super-witch now, besides being outrageously intelligent, and Adrian already has brilliant powers and people would stop acting like they're useless and need to be bailed out of everything, because they really aren't and don't. There's so much potential there! How do you people imagine the Re-education Centers? It's kind of a mix between a Clockwork Orange style brainwashing (from the snippets I get, couldn't download the movie or the book) and those old timey madhouse's electroshock treatments in my head. Basically my vision of hell, I am really attached to my mind and would hate to lose it.
