The Golden Lily

Sooo, for those who've read it.......here's a question for you

Why? It may take time to like Adrian as for who he is (vampire/spirit-user) but I'm pretty sure Adrian won't hurt Sydney.

But if she gets sent to a reeducation center, there could be added drama, and sydney needs adrian, they have a lot in common, and he makes her feel alive.

Because she's a self-centered, arrogant, ignorant, manipulative, pig-headed bitch...well, after book 4 she is."
I don't think that we can really put sydney, and rose in the same league, they have different personalities, and way different ways of looking at things.

Because she's a self-centered, arrogant, ignorant, manipulative, pig-headed bitch...well, after book 4 she is."

Of course we can. They're both fictional characters in the same universe. We can compare anything we want.

Yeah, but two completly different people, in the fact there personalities and the way they handle situations are very different.

Rose and Sydney can be friends, but no one can argue that they are from like to different sides from the same universe.

This is exactly how I feel.

Because she's a self-centered, arrogant, ignorant, manipulative, pig-headed bitch...well, after book 4 she is."
but with out her you wouldnt have that on edge series, she brings VA together. rose is just awesome. she might be those things you said but she is also; strong, brave, caring. shes just one of those people who are so confident that you wish you had that.

At certain points during VA, Rose's actions and thought processes almost made me put the books down completely. She does have good traits, but I found some elements of her personality to be very annoying. I admired her confidence to a certain extent, but I didn't admire (or want) her combination of confidence and propensity towards rash behavior.

Technically Sydney has been in 5 books so far and with Indigo Spell coming out in Feb that makes 6. But if we're being technical then Rose has been in 7 books. :P

Yes but to be the main character, is different from just being a character more in the book.

True but after 2 books, I like Sydney a hell of a lot more than Rose. TBH I liked her more after one book.

We all have different tastes, and the reason I do not like Sydney much is because she is too innocent to the world that she live, and sometimes feel very self-centered with little things, it's also a bit ignorant everything that happens around her, never thinking that others (humans) can hurt her or the others.

That's why I like her. She's lived a very confined life and had a belief system hammered into her brain since she was old enough to walk and she spends all her time and energy cleaning up the carnage that gets left behind from vampires. Her actions and reactions are completely in sync with her character which is much more realistic than Rose.
Still, she's tough, determind, dedicated, intelligent and just now beginning to break out of her shell.

Sydney is not self centered. You see that in the books. Like, in the beginning of the book, when she went with Eddie to Adrian's even though she hadn't slept. And she gave that blood sample to Sonya even though she was more than uncomfortable for her. She also used magic to find Sonya even though it goes against everything she believes in. And she's not ignorant of those things around her. She just doesn't see them because she was homeschooled and wasn't really around any of that. She grew up in a very strict environment. I love Sydney.

Also people don't have to do or believe anything their family has forced them to learn while growing up. Sydney's an individual who can decide how she feels about vampires, not what she was told.
Sometimes I feel like I'm reading a whole another book series than ya guys...

I just hope that Adrian is willing to wait for her, for as long as it takes.

I kind of agree, but at the same time what would you do if you were in that situation? With the love of your life, taken away, and what not.

Yes, but like you said comparing them at this stage, is premature. Thats my opinion.

As for adding Rose in, as much as I love Rose, she's already had her series! Give other people a chance!

A..."
I totally agree. While she may be "uneducated" in human behavior, but she is not innocent in the world.

Our badass heroine"
definitely add Rose somewhere, maybe in a scene or teo. her sarcasm never gets old.

it definitely freaks me out too

You mean like Eddie, since he is in love with her. I think it is so cute.

i would love if she got together with adrian and because it richelle mead loves cliffhangers, here is my prediction: eventually they will get together in a few books time (cause she is supposed to write about 6 apparently, and if she got them together early then the other books would be lacking in many areas)sydney will be sent to a reeducation centre and she with the help of dhampirs and moroi will escape. what do you think?

Sydney will realize that she loves Adrian but before they can get together something will happen to Adrian. I hoping for amnesia caused by spirit. Sydney will rebel against the Alchemists and embrace magic in order to restore Adrians memory.
Meanwhile, the evil witches and Warriors of Light will seize control of the court while preparing to kill all the moroi and strigoi. Sydney and her friends will team up with the keepers to stop them.
At some point Tasha will show up and help Sydney and Adrian, earning redemption and becoming Christians 'mother figure' again because lets face it, that poor kid deserves to have one family member that doesn't turn evil.
Rose and Dimitri will get married and Adrian will show up at the wedding and get all the guests completely wasted causing hilarious mayhem. He and Sydney live happily ever after and Jill finally hooks up with Eddie while Angelina and Trey get together.
I would have liked more Adrian and Sydney. I mean, I know Sydney is so completely oblivious to feelings and boys, but I would have liked more thoughts and talking between them. I felt kind of deprived of it in some parts - probably because I knew that they would end up in the situation Mead put them in at the end of the book... that was always going to happen in my eyes. But, more of a developed relationship between them before Adrian "made his move".

Sydney will realize that she loves Adrian but before they can get together something will happen to Adrian. I hoping for amnesia caused by spirit. Sydne..."
i like it

I actually think she is going to be in indigo spell, because she is going to train with her sister, or something.

Change one thing? I'd give Adrian super-powers. :P"
he does hes got spirit :)

I was stunned, that the light had to come on at that exact point! Because maybe, just maybe, if they had kissed right then and there - who knows what would have happened? I felt like she was more into the moment, then the actual kiss at the end ...
But that's just my opinion hehe

Telekinesis. :D

That just made me LOL. Maybe you should pitch that idea to Richelle mead for future books.

Well, you've got a very good opinion. You are sooooo right. I think that's where the series is headed.
