i need research.... fae reads needed

hi

was hoping some of you might be able to direct me to some interesting fae reads, i've read lkh merry. Indigo court novels by yasmin galenhorn, briggs.
i just need some more insight (my research) about the fae!!

Try the fever series by Karen Marie Moning. Also , is very good and more books coming.
Richelle mead has a good series with fae can't think what the first book is called but the characters name is Eugenie.
Melissa marr has a fae series, I think its called the wicked lovely series. Anyway, that should get you started:-)

What about Brian Froud and Alan Lee's classic Faeries? Sure, it's an art book, but it includes great info about everything from the significance of certain trees and plants to faerie rings, brownies, the phooka, will o' the wisps, pixies, & other denizens of the faerie realm. I collected it initially back in the late '70s when it first came out for the illustrations, but it contains an equal amount of helpful text.

Most of these books take bits and pieces from original folklore. When I was writing my book I bought a book of original tales, which was quite dry. Then I used the google and wikipedia. They were quite useful. You almost have to know what is original and what a certain author changed to make it their own. You don't want to plagiarize unintentionally or even get too close to another book it may turn readers off.

thanks for the advice! I have been looking things up online and found quite a bit of info, but the one book that wiki got most of its information from i couldn't find ....go figure!
I am a long way off from needing it but i will keep hunting the truths, err the closest thing i'll ever know to being the truth anyhow :P

I referred you to Brian Froud & Alan Lee's Faeries and then I found another book on my shelf entitled An Encyclopedia of Fairies: Hobgoblins, Brownies, Bogies,& Other Supernatural Creatures by Katharine Briggs. It's copyrighted 1976 so is probably out of print, but you might be able to find it on a used site. Dr. Briggs studied English at Oxford and did her thesis on folklore and did at least 3 other books on the fae so if you're looking for a reliable text, I'd say this is worth scouting out.

I just checked Amazon and, yep, someone knows what they have...used copies range from in the 20s (dollars, that is) up to the $90s. And the cheaper ones are only in good and acceptable condition, but as long as you can read it, I wouldn't think it would need to be pristine. Good luck!
