Kath Middleton | 23860 comments And being sociable, even if it's not your natural tendency, eats into your souls far less than loneliness.

message 2252: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Whilst some people enjoy being solitary, people forget that being solitary isn't the same as being lonely. Loneliness can rot you from the inside

message 2253: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Oh, I can enjoy being solitary. I am at the moment. But I don't feel lonely. That's a destructive state.

message 2254: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Yes, I tend to walk by myself. There was an article in the paper a week or so back about people who had to sit quietly without their phones or anything for fifteen minutes.
It was a bare room with nothing to do but think. I'd have thought that was almost a luxury, but some people were giving themselves electric shocks out of boredom!

message 2255: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I'm commonly alone for hours, sometimes days.

And terribly grateful for it. Isn't it sad that some people are unable to live inside their own heads?

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments I like my own company :)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I enjoy my own company, which is good because I am having a lot of it at the moment. But it would be a lot harder if I didn't have loads of friends I can chat to on the internet.

This can make a difference, but only if there are 'real' friends as opposed to 'virtual' friends out there

message 2259: by Gingerlily - The Full Wild (last edited Jul 21, 2014 10:14AM) (new)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I have real friends, virtual friends who have become real friends, and virtual friends who remain virtual.

The trick is to remember who is who...

message 2260: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Oh I know what you mean, and some of the virtual friends who become real friends stay 'real' even when you don't see them for years

message 2261: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments You mean other people are actually real?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments No Tim, and the last meat-up was a group hallucination...

message 2263: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I didn't hallucinate meat.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Thats why you didn't make it Will!

Marc Nash (sulci) | 4313 comments Gingerlily - Elephant Philosopher wrote: "No Tim, and the last meat-up was a group hallucination..."

I'm vegetarian, hence couldn't make it

Marc Nash (sulci) | 4313 comments If ever there was a virtual place, Biggleswade must be it. Not on my Tube map ergo it doesn't exist

You get there from King's Cross. Platform 10 and 4/5ths

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Next time it's gonna be a bacon-up.

There will be cheese for the wimps.

Marc Nash (sulci) | 4313 comments I'm not really a vegetarian, though I cook veggie

message 2271: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I shall bring a special sauce for the baconators, and you'll all regret it later

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Are you going to ask Jim for some of those lichens?

message 2273: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Jim, don't let Will near the cesspit, please.

message 2277: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Ah, I see you've all dropped in on my thread for some solitary time, a little bit of peace in this spiritual Oasis.
Perhaps it is time to pass among you with a collecting plate and a professional strangler.

message 2282: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Seems like it'll be a nightmare to calculate the tax due on that lot!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Will can do it for you.

message 2284: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Just wondering whether I might not be better of just weighing it all in for scrap?

message 2285: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Gingerlily - Elephant Philosopher wrote: "Will can do it for you."

message 2290: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I was going to tell you how much the fee was in Zlotys, but the zero key on the computer self destructed.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments No, it really shouldn't!

message 2297: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments At least you don't have a lot of Zlits.

message 2298: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I've actually sold 11 books since Amazon reduced the prices.
Interestingly from what I can make out, there was no effect whatsoever when I announced it on the Amazon 'MOA' forums
I made some sales when I announced it on here (but I suspect you all know about them anyway)
Most sales seem to have come from facebook

message 2299: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I need to reblog your blog post on Gumbees and if Will's around and has done a post about the Showing, I'll see if I can do that as well.

Cheers

MTM

message 2300: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I think the MOA is moribund now.

No one is directed there from Amazon: I think they have abandoned the experiment of the customer forum entirely
